Race 1
SPEEDING BULLET was in need of his last start in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup. His penultimate run when third in the Non-Black Type The Trippi Stakes was encouraging. He shows good speed in his races and if not too green around the turn, he may be hard to peg back.
CAPTAIN ARROW raced from just off the pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time, but found one too good in the form of Icy Blast. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BLUE HOLLY found betting support when winning her last start over this C&D. She showed good speed and found another kick where it matters most. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 2
KYOMAI was doing his best work late when third in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and in this field, he may be the one to beat.
HARD WINTER ran a fair race on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra 400m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be one of the leading contenders.
WOMAN‘S WORLD ran a fair race in her last start over 1200m. It must be noted that multiple horses from that outing have come out and won since. She should have no issues with the 1400m and can earn a cheque for her patrons.
Race 3
APPLE CATCHER has produced two good second place finishes to date. She jumped awkwardly when leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she stayed on was encouraging. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time and the headgear should keep her mind on the task at hand. If jumping on terms, she should go one better.
ON BOARD is lightly raced with some decent form lines to her name. It must be noted that multiple horses from her last form line have come out and won since. If not too green on her course debut, she should fight out the finish.
AMETHYSTIC has shown signs of needing her last two starts after returning from an 11-week break. Her best career effort has come over this C&D. She will be cherry-ripe and can run into the placings.
Race 4
BO KAAP is an unraced daughter of Silvano from the Brett Crawford yard with stable jockey Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Our Icon, Wonderous Climber and Helderberg Blue. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Her previous form was decent. If jumping on terms, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.
ISTY CLIFFS should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was held up for a run from the 500m mark to the 350m mark. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. With a bit of luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
KELP FOREST has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He stayed on nicely when third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He is a progressive type and with Aldo Domeyer booked to ride, he may be the one to beat in this line-up.
HAWK CIRCLE ran a fair race in the Workriders Vs Jockeys Challenge last time. The blinkers seem to have had the desired effect. He steps back up to the mile and with a bit of luck, he should be one of the leading contenders.
INAL EDITION finished 2.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He is progressive and may have more improvement to come.
Race 6
BROADWAY GIRL stayed on when third in the Listed Schweppes Cape Oaks last time. She has won twice from three starts over this distance. She is making her course debut as well as having her first run for trainer Eric Sands. She takes a drop in class and if suited to this track, she can notch up her third career victory.
BYE BYE BOMBSHELL‘S last three starts before given a 10-week break were decent. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. She will be mowing down the frontrunners under Grant van Niekerk.
BETTY BOOP should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung outwards in the final 400m. She is in a good space and if keeping on a straight line, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 7
DISTINCTION was unlucky not to have won her last start as she had to be steadied at the 300m mark. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. She drops back to the 1000m and with a bit of luck in running, she can notch up her third career victory.
HUNTING TRIP finished 0.95 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
DIFFERENT FACE was badly in need of her comeback run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. She will strip much fitter and on best form, she should have a say.
Race 8
BEERENBERG has decent recent form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was cramped for galloping room at the 200m mark. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and with luck in running, he should keep that record intact.
DANCE VARIETY has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He raced from a handy position in the Non-Black Type Newlands Stakes last time, but was outrun late. He is versatile and if suited to this course, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
BARZALONA showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He jumps from a good draw of two and cannot be ignored.
Race 9
AXL‘S last two starts at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth have been good. He showed good pace over 1000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Jury Duty. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He has dropped to a competitive rating and can go one better here.
TUSCAN GOLD finished 0.35 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
SEEKING PEACE finished 0.6 lengths behind FLY TO RIO last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is likely to race on the speed from her good draw of two and may be hard to peg back
