Race 1

SWEET PEPPER tired late when fourth in the Listed Swallow Stakes last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. Apprentice Siyanda Sosibo takes the 2.5kgs off her back and she can return to winning ways.

SHEELA won a good race in the Listed Golden Loom Handicap before given a well-deserved 21-week break. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and if not in need of the run, she can follow up.

MAY QUEEN has been a tad disappointing in her last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in her last outing has come out and won since. She has race fitness on her side and cannot be ignored.

Race 2

MO THE MAN took the lead at the 200m mark last time but was caught late by Jet Dynasty. He will enjoy the drop to 1400m and runs well for Keagan de Melo. He is a progressive type and can go one better.

GIMME A DIAMOND has produced two good runs since returning from a 12-week break. He was touched off by Sharapova over 1450m on the Inside course last time. He does have to overcome the widest draw but gets the services of S’manga Khumalo who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

FAST DUTY was squeezed leaving the start last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. If Philasande Mxoli is able to switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

AVOONTOAST is the best bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on this course. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. She would have gained from the experience and will love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

KEEP THE FORT‘S last three starts have been good. She moved up like a winner over 1600m last time but was outrun late. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

HAVE A PARTY ran a good race on debut over 1200m on the Inside course. She understandably raced green but finished off her race nicely. She will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and should make the natural progression.

Race 4

DESERT MIRACLE was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 Schweppes Majorca Stakes last time. She has won twice from as many starts over this C&D. Despite her big mass of 62kgs, she should be the horse to beat in this line-up.

FEATHER BOA was touched off by Bless My Stars in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic last time. She is loaded with ability and should give her older rivals a run for their money.

HUMDINGER is the stable companion of the top choice. She set the pace in the Grade 2 WSB Hawaii Stakes last time but was outrun late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is likely to have her own way in front and with Richard Fourie retaining the ride, she may be hard to peg back.

Race 5

THE AFRICA HOUSE was an impressive winner over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course, on debut. He lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which he quickened up and finished off his race was eye- catching. He could be anything and if jumping on terms, he can remain unbeaten.

RIPPLE EFFECT is a filly taking on the males. She showed good speed in the Listed Ruffian Stakes last time but was caught late by Mrs Geriatrix. She receives her sex allowance and should give the males a run for their money.

LUCKY LAD is the stable companion of the top choice. He was given a peach of a ride to win on debut over 1160m on this course. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the pair merit obvious inclusion.

Race 6

ELEGANT ICE was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She looks to have class about her and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

LEAVING LAS VEGAS won a good race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MIDNIGHT FUSION was an easy winner on debut over 800m on the Vaal Classic course. She returns from a 15-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps into the saddle on her return.

Race 7

NEBRAAS finished 0.5 lengths behind LITIGATION last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he can return to winning ways.

LITIGATION raced from a handy position in the Listed Drum Star Handicap last time but was outrun late by Infinite Wonder. He is having his peak run and merits healthy respect.

SECOND BASE finished 2.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 8

FUTUREWOLFF has consistent form lines to his credit. He is having his first run for the Fanie Bronkhorst stable. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

LITTLE PRINCE was doing his best work at the finish when third over 1800m on the Inside course last time. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be competitive.

PRIME EXAMPLE is better than his last start in the Listed Derby Trial. He followed up his maiden victory with a hard-fought win over 2400m on the Vaal Classic course. He drops in class and cannot be ignored.

Race 9

PINCH HIT ran a decent race when fourth in his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace that day and stayed on at the finish. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and in this line-up, he can notch up his third career victory.

EXPEDITIONER showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1000m on this course. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Both his career victories have come under Richard Fourie and the combination merit healthy respect.

CORNWALL found betting support when winning on debut over this C&D. The manner in which he quickened up and finished off his race was encouraging. He does take on stronger, but could be anything and may be up to the task at hand
