RACE 1
GLOBAL FORCE made the expected natural improvement when second in his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Summer Odyssey. He is a progressive type and may be hard to peg back.
XPLICIT CONTENT was disappointing in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. His first two career outings were encouraging. If all went well with his travels, he should be one of the leading contenders.
WATCH TOWER showed good speed over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Vision Of Wonder. His penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging and he merits healthy respect.
RACE 2
UNCLE TICKY BIRD ran a creditable race when third in his local debut over 1000m on this course. He was reported to be distressed after the race. He would have come on from the run and over the extra furlong, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
GREEN FALCON is having his first run for the Gavin Smith stable. The blinkers will be re-fitted and on best form shown, he should pose a massive threat.
SETTLE THE DUST showed good improvement in his local debut over this distance on the polytrack. He would have come on from the run and if suited to the turf track, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 3
SASSY is having her first run for the Kelly Micthley stable. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last start has come out and won since. She has placed over this distance in the past and if settled into her new surroundings, she can win in a field of this nature.
MINSTREL GALLERY is better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing. She finished second in her previous four runs. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
DREAM STAR has shown improvement in her last three starts. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
RACE 4
MHLABENI raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Perfection. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he can notch up his sixth career victory.
KING‘S CRUSADE‘S last three starts have been good. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and may be rewarded for consistency.
ZIG ZAG finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
RACE 5
MASTERS QUEEN challenged strongly in her last start over this distance on the polytrack, but found one too good in the form of Golightly. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. She is likely to use her early gate speed to get across from her wide draw without using up too much energy and she may be hard to peg back.
RESPECTABLE MISS finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
WILDEST DREAMS finished 2.55 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter.
RACE 6
KING REGENT is lightly raced with good form to his credit. He raced from a handy position in the Non- Black Type Newlands Stakes last time and stayed on at the finish. He is loaded with ability and if all went well with his travels, he should be the horse to beat.
PORT LOUIS hails from the visiting Brett Crawford stable. He was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He won his only attempt on this course. He has class and should be involved in the fight to the finish.
PERFECTION was an easy winner of his last start over 1400m on this course. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. He is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.
RACE 7
CLIFF TOP stayed on strongly when second over 1000m on this course last time. He was super-impressive when winning his penultimate outing over this C&D. He comes into this contest well-weighted and should be the horse to beat with home ground advantage.
SAFE RETURN finished 1.15 lengths behind COUNTDOWN last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He is having his first run for Gavin Smith and is one of the leading contenders.
COUNTDOWN ran a fair race in the Grade 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes last time. He won a good race over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in his penultimate run. He is versatile and cannot be ignored.
RACE 8
DAME OF FLAMES ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. She finished 2.6 lengths behind PAM’S PRINCESS in her penultimate run. She should have finished closer that day and is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is drawn out wide in barrier ten, but gets the services of S’manga Khumalo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
CARBONADO fought back well when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She is in a good space and can follow up.
PAM‘S PRINCESS was not disgraced when fifth against male company last time. She is back against her own sex and on her penultimate run, she should be involved in the fight to the finish
