Race 1

IMPRESSION showed good improvement in her last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. She was bumped at the start, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Pomodoro will love the rise to 2000m and if confirming her recent improvement, she can go one better.

MAITH AN CAILIN lost three lengths leaving the start last time, but managed to finish one length behind the winner. She has cracked a good draw of two and if jumping on terms, she should be one of the leading contenders.

QUEEN BRITANNA finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 2

BANHA BRIDGE moved up like a winner over this distance at Turffontein last time, but was outrun late by King Of Rome. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding is carded to race on 21 March 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

GREAT AFFAIR should have won his last start as Rachel Venniker dropped her crop at the 200m mark. He has shown good signs of a form return and can go one better.

AFRAAD is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing post race. He finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and on best form shown, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

REAL RELIEF is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Brett Crawford stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Silver Heritage and Iron Bark. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants

ROSE TINTED had excuses on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. It must be noted that Winter Cloud has come out and won again since. The daughter of Flower Alley returns to the Highveld and if all went well with her travels, she should make the natural improvement.

KING RAHUL showed signs of needing his debut effort over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and with the natural progression that is expected, he can finish in the placings.

Race 4

CALLMEWHENUNEEDME has produced two good efforts to date, the latest of which was in the Listed Ruffian Stakes. The daughter of Master Of My Fate finished second on debut over this C&D. She is a progressive type and in this line-up, she should be the horse to beat.

ENCHANTING LADY showed signs of needing her debut effort over this C&D. She was reported to be fatigued post race. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.

MARY‘S GREENLIGHT is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Mike de Kock stable with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Grand Silvano and Mary O’ Reilly. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 5

TIME TO MEDITATE was not disgraced when taking on winners over 1900m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. The son of Time Thief should enjoy the drop to 1800m. The blinkers and tongue-tie seem to have done the trick. He returns to Maiden Company and from his good draw of four, may be the one to side with.

PUERTO PLATA was a tad disappointing in his last start over 2000m on this course. It must be noted that Prime Example has come out and won again since. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

HAZLO GRANDE ran a fair race on debut over 1400m at Turffontein. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1800m. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression

Race 6

DESTINY OF SOULS was not disgraced when sixth in the Listed Derby Trial last time. He won a good race in his penultimate outing over 1800m at Turffontein. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

STRATOSPHERIC was super-impressive when winning his stable debut over 1400m at Turffontein. The son of What A Winter takes on stronger, but he has found a new lease on life and should be up to the task at hand.

INVINCIBLE WARRIOR is better than his last two starts after returning from a 46-week break. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from five starts over this distance. Apprentice Siyanda Sosibo takes the 2.5kgs off his back and he can show improvement

Race 7

VITELLIUS followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1400m at Turffontein. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the business end. The son of Pomodoro looks to have ability and he can notch up his second career victory.

GOLDEN SPOON‘S last two starts over this trip have been decent. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She is carded to race on 18 March 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

TIZONA is having his first run for the Tony Peter stable. He is better than his last start over the mile and on previous form, he should run a positive race.

Race 8

TRE AMICI has taken on stronger in his last two starts after winning his maiden. He was reported to be coughing post race after his last outing. The son of Vercingetorix takes a drop in class and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

LAETITIA‘S ANGEL won a good race in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She has won twice and finished second once from five starts on this course. She is likely to race on the speed and can follow up.

VAR PARK finished 1.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
