Race 1

ASARULUDU produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He was slow into stride, raced wide around the turn but how he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He was reported to be lame on his left fore leg that day. The son of William Longsword would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

MAJESTIC REIGN finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. The son of Time Thief may be at his best when trying further, but he has the ability to be competitive.

LUCKY DOLLAR ran a fair race in his last start over 1400m on the turf. It must be noted that See It Again has come out and won again since. He should enjoy the return to 1200m and if jumping on terms, he is capable of finishing in the first three.

Race 2

IDEAL GIFT ran a good race when second in her last start over this distance on the turf. She moved up like a winner, but was outrun late by Natalia. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Ideal World tries the Polytrack for the first time and if suited to this surface, she should go one better.

STEALTH ATTACK rallied late when fourth in her last start over 1200m on this course. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to the mile. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SHE’S NOT EASY‘S last two starts have been fair. She had to be eased at the 200m mark last time and was reported to be cut into. It must be noted that Let It Snow has come out and won again since. With a bit of luck in running, she should be right there at the finish.

Race 3

REEFWAY followed up her maiden victory with a decent effort over 1400m on the turf. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of Rafeef will love the rise to the mile and if suited to this surface, she should be the one to beat.

TOTO’S DREAM hails from the visiting Mike and Adam Azzie stable. She ran a fair race in her comeback run over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if suited to the Polytrack, she should pose a threat.

QUEST FROM AFAR ran a fair race in her post-maiden effort over this trip on the Vaal Classic course. She is likely to have her own way in front from barrier seven and may be hard to peg back.

Race 4

DUNYAA was given a strong ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Brazen Beau gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa which will help her chances. She is capable of notching up the hat-trick.

NEW ORLEANS finished 0.15 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. The daughter of What A Winter will be mowing down the frontrunners.

CAPRIANA finished 2.85 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights this afternoon and may battle to turn the tables.

Race 5

PRINCE OF TARANTO has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He ran a good race in his comeback run over 1400m on this course last time. The son of Crusade won his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and from pole position, he should notch up his sixth career victory.

SIKHULU won a good race in his last start over 1000m on the turf. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. The son of Capetown Noir is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

KNIGHT WARRIOR finished 0.5 lengths behind FATHER’S FROST last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He does have the pace to overcome the widest draw of eight and he may be hard to peg back.

Race 6

BIRDWATCHER had to be switched at the top of the straight over 1200m last time, but how she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She has won once, finished second three times and third twice from nine starts over this C&D. She jumps from a handy draw of five and can return to winning ways.

ROYAL KITTY set the pace over this C&D last time and found more where it matters most to hold all challengers at bay. She received a two-pound penalty for that victory and against similar company, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

CASA ROSADA’S last three starts have been good. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from eleven starts on this course. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and will be staying on at the business end.

Race 7

MR PIGALLE ran a good race in his comeback run over this distance on the turf. The manner in which he ran on at the finish that day was encouraging. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. The son of Jay Peg will strip a much fitter horse today and if keeping on a straight line, he should be the horse to beat.

SPIRIT OF MY FATE’S last two starts have been good. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding drops in class and is one of the leading contenders.

MAXIUMUS finished 0.3 lengths behind CAMORA in his penultimate effort. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

This is a weak Qualified Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD who is having his first run for the Gary Rich stable. He took on winners in his last start and multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has finished second three times from four starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

BARBATTI has decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should fight out the finish.

TRIP TO NEBRASKA showed very good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She carries a light mass of 51kgs thanks to 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa and she should give the males a run for their money
