Race 1

SIGN OF FATE produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on this course. She showed good pace and despite racing green, she fought hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the horse to beat.

HOT PEARL finished 5.1 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is only 1kg better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned.

SWEET JULIA is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Alyson Wright stable with Sean Veale in the saddle. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 2

JET LEGACY produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He cast a shoe in running and was reported to be cut into. The son of Divine Jet would have come on from the outing. He meets the right field and with the natural progression that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

BENNI IN THE AREA has produced two decent efforts since joining the Gary Rich stable. He showed good speed last time, but found one too good in the form of Wylie Riley. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ONE IRISH ROVER should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the closing stages. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe.

Race 3

Trainer Paul Lafferty holds a strong hand in this contest, and he can saddle the first two past the post. LADY SERENA is better than her last two starts against stronger company. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts over this C&D. Her last victory came under Keagan de Melo. She takes a drop in class and if putting her best foot forward, she should be too good for this field.

DEVILS AND DUST was not disgraced against male company over 1600m last time. She is likely to have her own way in front once again from pole position and may be hard to peg back.

QUANABI has fair recent form lines to her name. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should have a say in the outcome of this contest

Race 4

MONEY HEIST has been taking on much stronger company in his last four starts. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The son of Gimmethegreenlight takes a drop in class and he is the best weighted runner. If all went well with his travels, he should take a power of beating.

AURORA STORM did not shape in his last start in the Western Cape. He returns from a 15-week break which would have done him the world of good. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and if fit, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

FINE ADMIRAL followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1750m on this course. It must be noted that Riccardo has come out and won again since. He has plenty of scope and from pole position, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

BELLA SICCOME was given a peach of a ride when winning the Listed Christmas Handicap last time. She returns from a well-deserved 12-week break. She has won once and finished third once from three starts on this course. If not in need of the run, she can notch up her seventh career victory.

MEET AT THE GEORGE rallied late when second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She will strip much fitter and merits healthy respect.

TOP ME UP HOLLY ran a good race when third in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes last time. She returns from a 12-week break which would have done her the world of good. If fit, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

KABON KAPI ran a good race when third over 1400m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of Flower Alley will love the rise to the mile and with Rachel Venniker taking the 1.5kgs off her back, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

GARDENIA was running on when second in her comeback run over 1400m on the polytrack last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. She will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.

BOOGIE SHOES has won her last two starts well. She returns from a short nine-week break. She may be at her best over further at this stage of her career, but is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 7

WINTER WAVES has good recent form lines to his credit. He was running on when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. If not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, he can return to winning ways.

QUEST FOR THE BEST is a winner of his last three starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last outing has come out and won since. He shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.

GIMME A RAINBOW finished 0.55 lengths behind CAVALIERI last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
