Race 1

POURSOMESUGARONME has finished second in her last three starts with the blinkers fitted. She showed good speed over 1160m at Turffontein last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Rockingthetimeaway. She will enjoy the drop to 1000m and may be rewarded for consistency.

FULLIAUTOMATIX has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. Chamu Mabaya takes the ride, and should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

FLYING BROOMSTICK finished 2.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

JERUSALEMA RAIN produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1000m on the Classic course. He moved up like a winner but was caught in the shadow of the post by Guy Gibson. He found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

HAWKBILL finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.

EMPORIUM finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

CALA MURETTA was in need of her debut effort over 1000m on the Classic course. She was green in running, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the horse to beat.

QUEEN OF CAMELOT produced a promising debut effort against winners and male company over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She would have come on from the run and against her own sex, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

WHITE HILLS stayed on at the business end over 1000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Elegant Ice. The daughter of Querari will love the extra furlong and she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is US OPEN from the Fanie Bronkhorst stable. He ran a fair race in his comeback run over this distance at Turffontein. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He has plenty of scope and may be the one to side with.

WILLIAMSON finished 0.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

GODFATHER showed signs of needing his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. On best form shown, he is capable of winning a race of this nature

Race 5

BROADLANDS has decent form lines to her credit. She moved up well last time but did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will enjoy the drop to the mile and in this line-up, she should take a power of beating.

IMPERSONATION‘S last three starts have been fair. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back under Craig Zackey.

LADY ZULTANITE is better than her last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. Her penultimate run when third over 1400m on the Turffontein Standside course was encouraging. She gets the tongue-tie fitted and in this line-up, she can earn a cheque for her patrons.

Race 6

ABSOLUTE VALUE set his own fractions up front last time and fought back well to get the better of Great Affair. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Master Of My Fate takes a drop in class and can notch up the hat-trick.

PRIME EXAMPLE is better than his last start in the Listed Derby Trial. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. He is carded to race on 25 March 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

FLAG BEARER is better than his last start when making the trip to KZN. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. On best form shown, he should earn a cheque.

Race 7

SHELDON was an easy winner of his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He raced from a prominent position, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. He is in a good space and despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should notch up his fifth career victory.

HERECOMESTHERAIN finished 0.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

LUCY ENGLISH is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Sycamore Sprint. She finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 8

CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT raced from a handy position over 1450m on the Classic course last time but was outrun. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He has dropped to a competitive rating and on best form shown, he should be the one to beat.

THE MAURITIAN‘S last start can be ignored as the saddle was reported to have slipped and he was reported to be fatigued. His penultimate run in the Listed Secretariat Stakes over this distance at Turffontein catches the eye. If finding the form of that race, he should be one of the leading contenders.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE has decent recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that Tulip Tree has come out and won again since. She will strip a much fitter horse today and may give the males a run for their money.

Race 9

IN CAHOOTS stayed on when third over 1450m on the Classic course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He meets the right field today and can notch up his sixth career victory. He is carded to race on 23 March 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

CALIBRE CREST returns from a lengthy 42-week break. He won his maiden over this C&D. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and if not in need of the run, he should be one of the leading contenders.

TIMBAVATI RIVER showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. He has won once and finished third twice from six starts on this course. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and can earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 10

RUN FOR COVER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. He stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Robert Burns. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and if confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.

BLUE WATERS has finished fourth in her last three runs. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will be suited to the 1400m. She will strip much fitter and should give the males a run for their money.

INDUS KNIGHT had excuses in his last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. He will enjoy the drop in trip and on best form, he should have a say
