Coming into the final round of matches which both share the same kick off time England top the group with 4 points, Iran have 3, USA 2 and Wales 1.

Iran

After a 6-2 hiding against England first time out Iran revived their hopes of qualification with a 2-0 win over Wales. Both goals came in injury time after Wales had their keeper sent off and Cheshmi and then Rezaeian did the damage to keep Iran in the mix.

In their first action of the tournament Iran were on the back foot early and although it took England 35 minutes to open the scoring it was 3-0 by half time. England added a fourth before Iran showed plenty of spirit and goals were traded until deep into injury time. Taremi scored both of their goals, the second from the penalty spot.

USA

USA held England to a 0-0 draw last time out, a forgettable game but a result which leaves them needing to win this match to go through.

Tim Weah put the USA ahead against Wales in the first half of their opening match but they were unable to dominate after the break and paid the price with a late penalty. Despite some neat and tidy play in midfield creating chances has been an issue for the USA so far.

The Verdict:

It looks set to be a tense match and both sides will take heart from their results last time out. A draw will almost certainly be enough for Iran and they will likely set up accordingly but they do carry a threat on the break.

Christian Pulisic might prove to be the best hope of a USA goal and purely on gut feel I'm looking for a red card as with one of these teams likely to head out, time wasting and the possibility of someone losing their heads in frustration comes into the equation.

Wales

Welsh keeper Hennessey was red carded 4 minutes from the end of normal time in the Welsh defeat to Iran. In truth they had offered very little in the way of goal threat and could have few complaints about the result which leaves them on the verge of an early exit.

Wales are in their first finals for 64 years and they marked their return to the biggest stage with a 1-1 draw with the USA in their opening match. The first half was dominated by the USA and Wales were fortunate to be only 1-0 down at the break. Kieffer Moore came off the bench for the second half and Wales were a different proposition although they had to wait until the 82nd minute for the equalizer which came from the penalty spot from Gareth Bale.

England

England were really poor against the USA but remain favourites to top the group and to qualify they only need to avoid a 4-0 defeat.

Earlier Saka scored twice for England in the 6-2 win over Iran and 5 different players contributed assists to get England off to a winning start. They may have taken their eye off the ball when the game was in the bag.

England are now trading at around 9/1 in the outright betting to win the tournament.

The Verdict:

Wales look to have shot their bolt and as poor as England were against the USA I'm with an England win in a game of 3 goals or more.
