brazil18The second round of matches in Fifa World Cup Group G take place on Monday when Cameroon take on Serbia and Brazil clash with Switzerland

Odds provided by Sportingbet are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change.

Cameroon 4/1 Draw 27/10 Serbia 8/11

Cameroon

Cameroon were the outsiders of this group and they have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the knockout rounds after losing their opening match 1-0 to Switzerland. Their better football came in the first half but chances were passed up and it was 0-0 at half time. The Swiss scored the only goal of the game just after the break and there was no way back as Cameroon went down to an eighth successive WC Finals defeat.

Serbia

Serbia's opening match came against outright favourites Brazil and they were beaten 2-0. They were well organized but failed to register a shot on target and they conceded 2 second half goals. Aleksandar Mitrovic had very little to work with up front on his return from injury.

The Verdict:

As tough a start as it was against Brazil I didn't think Serbia's performance offered much encouragement and they will need to justify the odds on quotes here to boost their hopes of making it out of the group.

Meanwhile Cameroon are facing an early exit unless they can get something from this game, they weren't bad against a Swiss side who have an excellent recent record but this is another tough task.

I'm looking at 2 correct score options to level stakes. Serbia to win 2-0 or 2-1.

Brazil 5/10 Draw 31/10 Switzerland 5.75/1

Brazil

Richarlison scored both of Brazil's goals against Serbia. They had to be patient but in the end were full value for the win which could have been by a wider margin with 9 of 23 goal attempts recorded as on target. There was bad news with Neymar picking up a knock which will reportedly keep him out of the next 2 matches and full back Danilo is also out of the remaining group matches. but there is huge depth in the squad with the likes of Jesus coming off the bench.

Brazil are now trading at around 5/2 (favourites) in the outright betting to win the tournament.

Switzerland

Embolo scored the winner for Switzerland against Cameroon, one of 3 goal attempts they registered as on target and they were also awarded 11 corners.

Switzerland had topped their qualifying group, unbeaten with 5 wins and 3 draws which saw them finish 2 points clear of European champions Italy who failed to make these finals, scoring 15 goals and conceding just twice.

In Russia 2018 the Swiss made it to the last 16 where they lost to Sweden. In Euro 2021 Switzerland were a surprise package, making the knockout rounds where they ousted France before they bowed out to Spain on penalty kicks.

Switzerland are now trading at around 80/1 in the outright betting to win the tournament.

Verdict:

The Swiss are upset material but whether they have enough to turn Brazil over is another matter. Still I think they will give a better account here than they did in their opening game and I fancy they can contribute to the scoring
