F1 returns for the second weekend in a row as the grid heads to Barcelona, Spain for the Spanish GP. We look at this week’s race from a betting angle and offer up a few suggested bets for your consideration.

PREVIOUS RACE – Monaco GP

Lando Norris got his second win of the season last weekend in Monaco after qualifying first and going on to win the race. Charles Leclerc had a solid performance to finish in second while Oscar Piastri finished in third place. Max Verstappen missed out on a podium spot after finishing in fourth place.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Oscar Piastri                    161 points

Lando Norris                     158 points

Max Verstappen              136 points

George Russell                99 points

Lando Norris closed the gap to Piastri to only three points after his win last weekend. This has caused a change in the odds for the Driver Championship. Oscar Piastri is trading at 2.20 while the bookies have Lando at 2.60. Max Verstappen is currently at 4.00.

McLaren             319 points

McLaren are way ahead in the constructor’s championship, so we now turn to the winner without McLaren. Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are currently separated by only five points. The bookies have Mercedes trading at 2.25, Ferrari at 2.75 and Red Bull at 3.25.

VERDICT

Norris is coming off the back of a brilliant first win at the Monaco GP and his second win of the season. He managed to put in a really good performance at last year's Spanish GP finishing just behind Verstappen. Given his momentum and course form I am backing him to win his third race of the season. This bet comes with money back for 2nd place insurance – see details below.

Suggested Bet: Lando Norris to win at 2.85.

Charles Leclerc put in a brilliant performance last weekend as he finished second in his home race. He will be hungry to carry this form into this week and knows he needs to put in a big performance if Ferrari want to get ahead of Mercedes. I think he has the opportunity to get another podium finish this weekend.

Suggested Bet: Charles Leclerc podium finish at 2.75.
