Our featured Betway Premiership matches taking place on Saturday see Marumo Gallants host Amazulu and Orlando Pirates take on Magesi
Marumo Gallants v Amazulu
Gallants continue to struggle and in midweek a 1-0 home defeat to Kaizer Chiefs, their first loss in the league at home this season sees them come into the weekend with 15 points they are only 4 better off than bottom of the log Magesi and 3 in front of second bottom Chippa United. After winning their first 2 matches on the Betway Premiership season they have added just one more three point haul to their tally and are without a win in their last 6.
Amazulu are flying under the radar and on the back of 5 wins in their last 7 league games they have moved up to fourth, 2 points behind Pirates, 3 shy of Chiefs and 5 drift of Sundowns (Pirates have 2 games in hand on the other title contenders). Recent result include a 1-0 win away to arrows and 3-2 home win over TS Galaxy. Their overall away record only comprises of 2 wins (alongside 3 draws and 3 defeats) but they are clearly in good shape.
The Verdict:
When the teams met in August Amazulu were 1-0 winners and on current form they ought to feel they can claim another 3 points. Prior to that defeat to Chiefs earlier this week Gallants had a decent enough home record, scoring in every game. Their confidence might well be pretty fragile though and I’ll take my chances with a 1-1 correct score call for a small stake.

Orlando Pirates v Magesi
Since the mid season break Pirates have played just the one league game, a 0-0 draw away to Sekhukhune. That stretches their Betway Premiership unbeaten run to 11 matches ( 9 wins and 2 draws) and they have won each of their last 5 in front of their own supporters. The Bucs are currently third on the log, 1 point behind Kaizer Chiefs and 3 shy of Sundowns but they do have 2 games in hand. Downs goal difference is currently 4 better than Pirates so only a landslide win would take them top of the standings.
Magesi are bottom of the standings with 11 points, 1 behind Chippa and 2 shy of Orbit Collage but they have played 22 games fewer than both those sides. This will be their first competitive outing since the 3rd December when they went down 1-0 at home to Sekhukhune. They have drawn 3 of 8 road trips, losing the other 5 and they have found the net just 4 times on their travels whilst conceding 13.
The Verdict:
This is the first league meeting this season although Pirates did win a carling Knockout tie 2-1 in Orlando at the end of October. Pirates should have blown a few cobwebs away in their draw at Sekhukhune whilst Magesi might well be in need of thee outing and I’m with Pirates to get the job done with some daylight.
