Spurs v Aston Villa

Spurs finished Round 7 in third place with a record of 4 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat and coming into the weekend they are 1 point behind Liverpool and 2 shy of league leaders Arsenal. They edged out Leeds 2-1 at Elland Road last time out but their home form to date is something of a mixed bag. They saw off Burnley 3-0 on the opening weekend but were second best when Bournemouth came to town and they lost 1-0. More recently Spurs needed a last gasp equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Wolves.

Villa only chalked up their first league win of the season in Game-week 6 when they beat Fulham 3-1 in a home fixture. They followed up with another home victory last time out, 2-1 against Burnley and after a couple of Europa League wins they are looking for a fifth straight victory across all competitions. They finished Round 7 with 9 points and in much better shape than earlier in the season when they couldn’t “buy” a goal.

To me Spurs have looked a better side away from home so far but I think they will have enough to get past Villa in a game of 3 goals or more.

Bet: Match Result and Total Goals, Spurs win and over 2.5 at 15/10 with Betway

Liverpool v Man United

After 5 straight league wins back to back defeats away to Palace and Chelsea (both 2-1) have seen Liverpool lose top spot to Arsenal and they are now 1 point behind the Gunners in the title race. Throw in a 1-0 loss at Galatasaray in the UCL and it’s 3 defeats in a row for Slot’s team. In their favour, the return to Anfield where they have been foot-perfect in league and cup including EPL wins over Bournemouth (4-2), Arsenal (1-0) and Everton (2-1).

United went into their Round 7 home fixture against Sunderland under huge pressure but they responded with a comfortable 2-0 win. That moved them onto 10 points but still no higher than mid-table and away form is the biggest problem, a 1-1 draw at Fulham, 3-0 loss in the derby at City and a 3-1 defeat at Brentford along with an EFL Cup exit at Grimsby.

Earlier in the season there was a trend worth following of Liverpool to win by 1 goal exactly which has since seen an about turn and the last 3 in any competition have seen them lose by the minimum margin. So where do you go? I’m not so sure but will take my chances with Liverpool to win but with United contributing to the scoring.

Bet: Liverpool win and both teams to score? (yes) at 15/10 with Betway
