The remaining five English Premier League matches in Gameweek 11 take place on Sunday and we have a play in each game including Manchester City v Liverpool
Prices quoted are correct at the time of publication but subject to change.
Aston Villa v Bournemouth
Villa’s 6 match unbeaten run in the EPL which included 4 wins in their last 4 came to an end at Liverpool last weekend when they lost 2-0. Recent home results include wins over Fulham, Burnley and most notably Man City and they are in mid table with 15 points from 10 matches.
Bournemouth went down 3-1 away to Man City last week and slipped from second to fifth. Aside from a 1-0 win at Spurs early in the season they have been involved in some very high scoring games on their travels, losing at Liverpool (4-2) and drawing at Leeds (2-2) and Palace (3-3).
Villa were in Europa League action at home to Maccabi on Thursday and won 2-0. They made a few changes there and should be something like full strength for this one.
This should be a good watch and mainly due to Bournemouth’s defensive record away from home I’m going with Villa to edge it with both sides contributing to the scoring.
Bet: Match Result and both teams to score, Villa and yes at 3/1 with Pokerbet
Brentford v Newcastle
After going down 2-0 away to Palace, Brentford finished the previous round just below halfway in the standings with 13 points, 1 better off than their opponents here. Home form is useful with wins over Villa, Man United and Liverpool plus a draw with Chelsea but they did lose one other home fixture 1-0 to Man City.
Newcastle chalked up another home win in the UCL in midweek, 2-0 against Athletico Bilbao but they have yet to win away in the EPL. A 3-1 defeat at West Ham last Sunday was a miserable result, they have also lost at Brighton (2-1) and played out 0-0 draws at Villa, Leeds and Bournemouth.
Bet: Player shots on target Igor Thiago, 2 or more, boosted to 23/10 with Sportingbet
Palace v Brighton
Fans of both these clubs consider this their derby of the season and its usually a lively affair. Palace saw off Brentford 2-0 at Selhurst Park last weekend and they remain unbeaten at home in the EPL with 2 wins and 3 draws.
Brighton were comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Leeds last time out and with 12 points they finished the round in mid table, 1 shy of Palace. Away from home they have lost at Everton (2-0), Bournemouth (2-1) and Man United (4-2) but they did win 3-1 at Chelsea.
Palace were comfortable winners in the Europa Conference League at home to AZ on Thursday and after the home win over Brentford they appear to have bounced back from a brief dip in results but this is a tough derby.
I’m with both sides to pick up 2 or more cards.
Bet: Both teams to have 2 more cards? Yes at 9/10 with Sportingbet
Notts Forest v Leeds
In 2 EPL matches under Sean Dyche Forest have lost 2-0 at Bournemouth and then drawn 2-2 at home to Man United. They are second bottom with just 6 points from 10 matches and haven’t won since the opening weekend when they beat Brentford (3-1) here.
Leeds surrendered to a 3-0 loss at Brighton last time out and finished the round fifth from bottom on 11 points. They did win a crunch game away at Wolves (3-1) but their 4 other road trips all ended in defeat and they failed to find the net.
Forest travelled to Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday and drew 0-0, they will view this as very winnable but I’m not too confident about them after they let me down in midweek.
Forest travelled to Sturm Graz in the Europa League on Thursday and drew 0-0, they will view this as very winnable but I’m not too confident about them after they let me down in midweek. Leeds have been vulnerable in defence on their travels and I’m taking speculative aim at Forest defender Milenkovich to punish them from a set play.
Bet: Anytime goalscorer Milenkovich at 11/1 with Betway
Man City v Liverpool
City were 4-1 winners at home to Dortmund in the UCL in midweek and they return to EPL action with 5 wins, a draw at arsenal and a defeat at Villa in their last 7. Most recently in that shat sequence they were 3-1 winners at home to Bournemouth, they have also beaten Everton, Burnley and Man United here but did lose at home to Spurs. City finished the previous round in second place, 6 points behind Arsenal.
Liverpool will look to their 1-0 home win over Real Madrid in midweek and a 2-0 win over Villa at Anfield last weekend as evidence they have out their troubles, which included 4 league defeats in a row, behind them. They come into this round 1 behind City and bid to return to winning ways at home after losing at Palace, Chelsea and Brentford.
Liverpool did the double over City last season, winning both games by a 2-0 scoreline whilst the league meetings in 2023/24 both finished 1-1.
Given Liverpool appear to be back on track I can see this ending in a draw which looks a fair price to me.
