The 2026 World Cup Finals get underway on Thursday 11th June and prior to the start of the tournament we nail up a few tips from the numerous outright markets offered by the bookmakers.
We have 12 groups each containing 4 nations, the top 2 in each of the groups advance to the knockout rounds and they will be joined by the 8 best third place finishers to give us 32 teams for knockout football thereafter.

Which Player Will Provide The Most Assists?
Our first outright bet involves selecting the player who will provide the most assists in the tournament. Bruno Fernandes is widely considered the assist king and Portugal haven’t got a bad draw in Group K but I’m not sure how far they will go and I prefer the chances of France’s Michael Olise.
I think France the strongest squad in the tournament and I would be very surprised if they don’t go really deep. Olise has had a sensational season and although I considered him in the Player of the Tournament market I’ve settled on him to provide the most assists.

What Will Be The Highest Scoring Group?
Next up the highest scoring group and whilst it’s not the easiest of tasks to catch right given the expanded nature of these finals but at the prices I like Group J.
Argentina are the group favourites and should score their fair share. Jordan are the rank outsiders and will probably struggle in their first ever finals. That leaves Algeria who have some fine attacking talent but a trio of inexperienced keepers and Austria who I’m a touch worried about in terms of their goalscoring prowess but they are a useful side and they have Jordan first up.

Highest Scoring Team
Last up who will be the highest scoring team and Spain are your favourites ahead of Brazil. Both those sides have pretty kind draws for the group stage but my preference is for France.
Despite being drawn in the strongest of the groups I still see scope for goals and whilst they may well be off the pace as we head into the knockout rounds I can see them catching up and giving me a decent run for my money.
