The first action in the English Premier League this weekend comes from Portman Road on Friday night where Ipswich host Notts Forest and we look far and wide for a bet
Ipswich
Ipswich are mid table with 9 points having won 2-1 at home to Sunderland and 3-2 at Palace and a late comeback saw them edge out Fulham 2-1 in their most recent home fixture. Their 4 defeats came at Man City last weekend (3-2) and they also lost at Man United (5-2), at home to Liverpool (2-0) and away to Everton (1-0).
Forest
Forest have just the 5 points and they come into this round second bottom on the standings. Their only win came away at Villa (2-1) in Gameweek 4 and since then they have lost 3 in a row, at home to Coventry and most recently Arsenal (both 1-0) either side of a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace. Earlier in the season Forest drew 2-2 at Liverpool so 4 of their 5 points have been earned on the road.
As far as the Forest team news is concerned Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenkovic have been back in training leaving Igor Jesus and Nicolo Savona as the players remaining in the treatment room.
The Betting
Ipswich are trading at 2/1 with the draw at 26/10 and Forest can be backed at around 5/4
A game of 3 goals or more is 8/11 and it’s 6/10 for both teams to score.
Price boosts from Sportingbet include a score draw at 36/10 from 31/10 and Delap to score the first goal of the match (for Forest against his old club) at 6/1 from 11/2
Verdict:
Ipswich have done well on their return, they look much better equipped this time around but they have conceded 15 league goals, the second highest tally in the top flight. Meanwhile with just 5 league goals to their name Forest are the lowest scorers in the EPL.
With those goal stats not making life any easier where do we go, cards or ccorners maybe?
Looking at card markets Thomas Bramall is the referee and he has shown 9 yellows and 1 red in his 4 EPL matches so far, nothing to tempt me there.
Looking at the corners markets Ipswich average about 3.5 per match in EPL home games whilst Forest have been awarded around 5 on average in their EPL road trips. OK, that will do, Forest (with Gibbs White back and hopefully a bit more attacking threat) to get 5 or more corners will carry my hopes on Friday night.
Bet: Forest total corners over 4.5 at 9/10 with Sportingbet
