The final of the Uefa Champions League will be contested by PSG and Arsenal in Budapest on Saturday and we take a look at a variety of options available to punters.
PSG
PSG are the holders of this trophy having trounced Inter Milan 5-0 in last season’s final and they kept themselves in the hunt to retain the title with an epic 6-5 aggregate win over Bayern Munich in the semis. They won the first leg in Paris 5-4 with Dembele and Kvaratskhelia both scoring twice. The return in Munich never hit the same heights in terms of goal action but an early goal from Dembele extended PSG’s lead and Bayern’s equalizer came in injury time, 1-1 on the night.
PSG won both legs of their quarter final match up with Liverpool by a 2-0 scoreline. Doue and Kvaratskhelia were on target in the first leg in Paris and a brace from Dembele wrapped things up in the return at Anfield. PSG put Chelsea away in the first knockout round, winning 5-2 in Paris and 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
PSG started the League Phase well including a victory away to Barcelona but they won just 1 of their last 5 and missed out on auto qualification with 14 points. One of their League Phase defeats came at home to Bayern, 2-1. PSG were subsequently matched with Monaco in the play offs and after a 3-2 win away from home, a 2-2 draw in Paris saw them edge their way through.
PSG won the Ligue 1 title again this season, finishing 6 points clear of Lens.
Arsenal
Arsenal booked their place in the final with a 2-1 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid. The first leg in Madrid saw Arsenal opening the scoring with a Viktor Gyokeres penalty just before half time but a second half penalty for Atletico saw the game finish 1-1. The return in London was settled by a goal from Saka just before half time and Arsenal are in the top European final for the first time in 20 years.
An injury time goal from Kai Havertz gave Arsenal a 1-0 lead from the quarter final first leg against Sporting in Lisbon. The return at The Emirates finished without a goal and Arsenal edged their way through to the semi finals 1-0 on aggregate. The Gunners came up against Bayer Leverkusen in the Ro16. They needed a late penalty to rescue a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Germany before goals from Eze and Rice in the return in London delivered a 2-0 win on the night and 3-1 victory on aggregate.
Arsenal topped the League Phase winning all 8 matches scoring a total of 23 goals whilst conceding just 4 and their stand out results included home wins over Atletico (4-0) and another semi finalist Bayern Munich (3-1).
Arsenal won the EPL title this season, eventually finishing 7 points clear of Manchester City.
