Friday’s Betway Premiership action offers Orlando Pirates the chance to go back to the top of the standings when they visit Richards Bay

Richards Bay

At the time of writing Richards Bay were in eleventh position and with a tally of 26 points they look pretty safe from any threat of relegation whilst a strong finish to the season could see them force their way into the top half of the standings. Over the course of the last 5 league outings they have won 2 and lost 3 and the results make interesting reading. The wins came at home to Kaizer Chiefs (1-0) and most recently Stellenbosch (2-1) and it between they lost 3 consecutive road trips, at Pirates (2-0), Amazulu (2-1) and Durban City (1-0).

Orlando Pirates

Pirates were in midweek and Tuesday’s 5-0 hiding dished out to Golden Arrows in Orlando kept the title race boiling with the Bucs remaining in second spot, 2 points behind Sundowns with both sides having played 23 matches. Sundowns are not in league action this weekend so another 3 point haul for Pirates will take them to the summit. Since losing to title rivals Sundowns in February Pirates have taken 16 points from the subsequent 6 league games and their goal difference is now +36 (Sundowns is +30).

The Betting:

Richards Bay are currently 13/2 to win the game with the draw at 14/5 and Prates can be backed aat 5/10.

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 6/4 and it’s 17/10 for both teams to score.

The Verdict:

Pirates have scored 11 goals in winning their last 2 league games and they kept a clean sheet in both those wins. Richards Bay boast some useful home form but I’m with Pirates to score 2 or more.

Bets: Away team total goals over 1.5 at 10/11 with Betway
