Nine more Uefa Champions League matches take place on Wednesday when the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Manchester City are all in action
Feyenoord vs Como
Feyernoord went down 5-1 away to Barcelona in their opening match. They were 4-0 down by the time Sem Steijn scored a late consolation.
Como impressed first time out with a 4-1 home win over RB Leipzig. They found the net twice in each half through four different scorers in what was their UCL debut.
Feyenoord matches are usually high s coring and although Como haven’t registered a goal in their last 2 league games their earlier matches generally saw both teams score and then some. I’m with over 3.5 in total here.
Bet: Total goals over 3.5 at even money with Sportingbet
LASK vs Liverpool
LASK went down 1-0 away to AEK in their opening match. Chances were hard to come by after they fell behind midway through the first half but they blew a decent opportunity late on. LASK made it the League Phase after edging out Celtic 5-4 in the final round of qualifiers.
After conceding an early goal Liverpool came from behind to beat Atletico 2-1 at Anfield in the opening round thanks to goals either side of half time from Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.
There are plenty of question marks about Liverpool’s EPL form although it is better when they travel. They also make a winning start in the UCL and this could be an opportunity for Bradley Barcola to get on the scoresheet.
Bet: Any time goal scorer Barcola at 33/20 with Sportingbet
Roma vs Real Madrid
Roma played put a 1-1 draw away to Fenerbahce in their opening match. Bryan Cristante gave them a lead late in the first half but they were pegged back just after the break and there was no further scoring.
First half goals from Mbappé and Valverde put Real on course for victory at home to Inter on Matchday 1 and although Inter pulled a goal back late on it finished 2-1.
Roma are unbeaten in Serie A and missed a trick in not taking maximum points on Matchday 1. I’m going to nibble at both halves over 1.5 goals.
Bet: Both halves over 1.5 total goals? Yes at 21/10 with Lucky Fish
Aston Villa vs Fenerbahce
Villa opened up with a 3-2 win away to Club Brugge thanks to first half goals from John McGinn, Emi Buendia and Nicolas Jackson
Fenerbahce started with a 1-1 draw at home to Roma in the opening round of the League Phase but the story didn’t end there as coach Ismail Kartal announced his resignation in the post match interview. However he was convinced to reverse his decision by the clubs board and will be in charge for this game. Fenerbahce came through 3 rounds of qualifying to reach the League Phase. They beat Gornik Zabrze 2-1 on aggregate and then saw off Sturm Graz 3-0, winning both legs. After that a stormy clash with Lyon saw the teams finish all square at 1-1 in Turkey in the first leg and Fenerbahce won the return 2-1.
Villa are another side who’s EPL form could have been better but Nicolas Jackson is my idea of an any time goalscorer for the hosts.
Any time goal scorer Jackson at 13/10 with Sportingbet
Betis vs FC Porto
Two goals from Marc Bartra and a third for Troy Parrott helped Betis to a 3-2 win away to Lille in their opening match.
Porto found it tough going at home to Man City on Matchday 1 and they rarely threatened in a 2-0 home defeat.
Betis are flying high in La Liga nd pulled off a fine win at Lille. I’m with them to follow up in a game of 3 goals or more at a boosted price.
Bet: Betis to win and over 2.5 total goals at 11/5 (from 19/10) with Sportingbet
Bodo/Glimt vs Dortmund
Bodo take on German oppostition again after they crashed to a5-0 defeat to Bayern in Munich on Maatchday 1 and to make matters worse Odin Bjortuft was red carded in the closing stages. Bodo came through 2 rounds of qualifying. Their clash with Royal Union SG went all the way to extra time with Bodo edging it 6-5 on aggregate. Their match up with Nijmegen was more straight forward with Bodo winning both legs to progress 6-1 on aggregate.
Dortmund beat Villarreal 3-2 in an opening round home fixture with all the goals arriving in the second half. It was a lively game for Serhou Guirassy who scored twice for the Germans but also put through his own net late on.
This was sort of challenge Bodo thrived on in their UCL run last season but Dortmund are going well and I’d rather leave this one alone.
Man City vs PSG
City top the EPL standings with a 100% record and they also made a winning start to the UCL campaign with two second half goals from Haaland gave them a 2-0 win away to Porto.
PSG thrashed Slovan Bratislava 6-1 in Paris to make a winning start to the the defence of the trophy they have won in each of the last two seasons. Ferran Torres grabbed a hat trick and Dembele scored twice.
City were great at Anfield and now face the ultimate test and the match result market has a pretty open look to it with City slight favourites. I think goals, hopefully another one with 2 or more in each half.
Bet: Both halves over 1.5 total goals? Yes at 21/10 with Lucky Fish
Shakhtar Donetsk vs AEK Athens
Shakthar drew 1-1 away to PSV in the opening round of matches. Gleiker Mendoza opened the scoring at the end of the first half but they were pegged back just after the break.
AEK have the maximum 3 points after starting their campaign with a 1-0 home win over LASK with Razvan Marin scoring from a set piece in the first half.
I’m struggling with this one and will it go through to the keeper.
Slovan Bratislava vs Stuttgart
Slovan Bratislava had the toughest possible start away to PSG in the opening round of matches and they thrashed 6-1. Suleiman Camara was the man on the scoresheet. Slovan came through 3 rounds of qualifying, getting past Iberia 1999 3-1 on aggregate, Mjallby also 3-1 on aggregate and then Celje 3-2 over the 2 legs. They are currently fourth best in Slovakia’s top division with a record of 4 wins and 2 defeats.
Matchday 1 saw Stuttgart open their account with a 3-1 home victory over Viking. Ermedin Demirovic was the hero with a first half hat trick in the space of 12 minutes.
I’ll go with Stuttgart multi goal of 2-3.
