Boks v All Blacks Greatest Rivalry 1st test, Currie Cup week 6, NPC 18-12 Aug

Hi everyone, I enjoyed a successful weekend, hitting three overs plays in the Currie Cup, with my only loser being the Stormers at 3/1 to win against the Pumas.

My main bet in the international rugby was Australia over 39.5 points, which was also included in the newsletter, and that came home smoking.

The one I really sweated on, though, was under 69.5 points in the Bulls v New Zealand game. It looked all over a winner after 38 minutes, but a late All Blacks try before halftime meant I just knew I was going to sweat this one out in the second half!In the end, the game landed on 69 points exactly, and I at least came away from a very stressful second-half watch with a profit.

The time for talk amongst the teams is over, and the Greatest Rivalry Tour gets into the business end of proceedings this week with the 1st test.

South Africa are trading at around +6.5. We'll have a full betting preview up on Goodforthegame early in the week.

There's also Currie Cup Week 6, which is the penultimate round of the group stage. At this point, it looks increasingly possible that the four smaller unions – Griquas, Cheetahs, Pumas and Boland Cavaliers – could occupy all four semifinal spots.

The Currie Cup Week 6 betting blog will be up shortly with a review of last week's action, and I'll be back on Monday with my handicap projections.

There's also another round of the New Zealand NPC to look forward to.Have a good week everyone and I look forward to your thoughts

Thanks Brent, nicely done on your bets, some great calls. I focussed heavily on the aus overs, nz bulls overs and then nz overs at ht and that last sititi try was a massive swing on the weekend.

first bet down for the big one, as I’m waiting for points lines for my main interest  -

ht/ft NZ/Boks @ 11/2

I feel this NZ side may have a bit more sharpness early on and then Boks to come back strong with bench making a big impact.

All over NZ +7.5 @ 91/100. I don't see this as a two score game.

Currie Cup blog updated with my handicap projections

I battle to handicap this comp so a big difference with the bookmakers will not trigger an immediate bet

I am also probably going to focus on points lines again Pumas -3.5 v Griquas Blue Bulls +5.5 v Stormers Sharks -3.5 v Lions Cheetahs -9.5 v Boland

Let me know if you see anything obvious that you would climb into

Congrats on a brilliant weekend Brent. Well played tjom.

I'm sure Griekwas are chomping at the bit to avenge their SA Cup final loss against the Pumas. I'll be happy to take any Kwas plus.

I am shocked. 58.5!!! This is the opening points line I’ve seen for Boks NZ game. As an overs punter I was expecting a line more in low 50s. Really hope this comes in as was looking to fire overs but 58.5 is just too high.

Well, you  have to go back 5 years to find a score that exceeded this but a few have come real close with 58 and 55 pts since then so its not that shocking? But yes, the dreaded unders seems the bet @58.5.

Yeah maybe I was less shocked and more disappointed as was hoping for an early gift line. It’s just there’s been some epic attacking rugby in those games that have been around the mid to high 50s in past, so to get to 59 it’s going to need to be some game on show this Saturday.

saying that i would see being on unders as absolutely torturous and wouldn’t be able to bring myself around to it.

My sentiments exactly South

I expected 54.5/55.5 but not sure I will pull the trigger on unders although I think for a 1st test it is the play

I agree with the Andre Pretorious view that NZ will likely need to score 4 tries at least to beat Boks. So despite high pts line, I’m likely going overs here. Currently 57.5 @ 10/11. I think will get 55.5 by Sat.

also a bet I’m considering as an alternative - Both sides to score 20+ and Boks win @ 6/5.

Does anyone know which bookmakers will be offering Man of the Match odds for Springboks vs All Blacks?I’m looking at Damian de Allende as a potential value bet. He’s absolutely vital for the Boks at 12, and with this being his 100th Test, I think he could be in for a massive performance.Which bookies usually have Man of the Match markets available for the Test? 🇿🇦🏉

They might get the Damian’s mixed up again and give it to Willemse! In all fairness Willemse is owed a man of match award after that balls up in England game were they got the wrong Damian.
