A really good week of racing ahead and we have a Monday meeting including a feature at Kenilworth, Winning Form preview  is available here

On Tuesday it's the Turffontein Champions Finals day that was postponed from Saturday, will have a look and post a few picks.

Scottsville on Wednesday includes a couple of features for the 2 year olds, then its back to Turffontein on Thursday and Fairview on Friday.

Saturday should be a cracker at Greyville including the Drill Hall, decs are not complete yet but looks like some big guns will be stepping out, its also the Guineas for boys and girls and the East Coast Cup.

Sunday is back to Kenilworth for a couple of Grade 3's and the Listed Ladies Mile

All this week's racing tips are most welcome here

Spent quite a while on Tuesday's card, like a few although not the sort of prices I usually look for, generally looking for horses with form with some cut in the ground

R5 Shoot The Rapids, owner, trainer jockey combo always worth including, hoping travel plans weren't inconvenienced by Saturday's postponement, yard knows how to raid Joburg.

R6  Olivia's Way, hopefully a reward for some fine efforts

R7 Field Marshall, same combo as R5, plenty of these closely matched on previous form at today's weights. Selection has plenty to do at the weights but very little between between him and Ultimate King whilst Choissinada up in trip and the top 2 a bit in and out form wise

R8 Places on Cosmic Speed, interesting way down in trip

R9 Almond Sea , record in wet stands out, Fourie booked also caught eye

R10 Vannakam, unless he picked up any spares Godden booked for 3 rides by this trainer, 2 big roughies who look up against it and this one which is well fancied

R11 Might be a touch sharp for Dark Silver but usually gives his all, form in wet, appy takes of 2.5kg, badly drawn but still an each way price

Geez thought Cosmic Speed was going to get you for you Chris. I’ve backed that one so many times and stable always said he has ability and I see Tarry pre race comment said CS will be a force over the 1600 features coming up.

lovely sort in the last from the yard. Rest of jocks were fast asleep but this horse looks ultra progressive.

Lovely racing yesterday. Agree with you Southpaw, Firestorm is one to follow and in my opinion will go extra ground as well. Reckon Buffalo Storm Cody could have got up had they kept the blinkers on?

On to today, not often that we get graded races on a weekday. A few short priced favorites today, Scottsville is known to have caught out many favorites in the past, so hoping to catch one somewhere on the card

Race 1 - Roskilde ran a close 2nd in a Gr3 over this distance and should win this by a few lengths but 7/20 is a very short price. Watch the betting on the first timers, especially Simonis who is a half brother to Spirit of Shimla.

Race 2 - Vibe Check is another with solid form but drawn wide and sees Scottsville for the first time today. One Pepper (22/10) has seen the track before when finishing in front of Riff Raff Boy. RRB came out and beat the likes of Bright Blue, Viking Leader (won) and Better Never Ends (Nursery Winner). Putthelightsout (16/1) is well-bred and ran a good 400F first time out when drawn wide. Stable comments that day were that the horse is promising and will be looking for ground. He must be a big runner based on how he ran on that day. E/W won't hurt.

Race 3 - Lady Nancy (13/20) has bumped a few good ones and the step up in trip should assist. Taking her on with Greek Heritage (2/1) who will appreciate the extra ground and has also seen the track before. She is the one with more scope in my opinion. "Marked as "one to follow" by the stable when making her debut.

Race 4 - Tomyris (7/2) loves Scottsville. 1500m doesn't seem to be her best trip, but she has a weight advantage over the favorite, Educator, as well as Forward Motion.

Race 5 - Taylor's Version (9/2) won her debut well and could follow up here. Reckon the handicapper hasn't fully caught her yet.

Race 6 - Querari Dancer (9/20) is the obvious one with Manne Fortune on. Lady Jean always honest but has some improvement to show if she wants to beat QD. If we are flying come this race, I might just have a tickle on Menagerie (11/1) who ran a good second when backed on debut. Another who has had the advantage of having seen the course. Will include with QD in P6.

Race 7 - Hail Mary on In The Red @ 50/1. Over raced last time out, ignoring that run. Appeared to have an issue then. Previous form not bad at all. Including in the P6 together with the top 2 in the betting.

Races 8 & 9 - Load up as much as you can.

Lets hope for a good day!

Could have done a lot worse than just follow Tarry yard on Tuesday South, really impressed with the 2yo filly Get Up, didn't see the last race winner but another one for the notebook

Wednesday Scottsville, thanks for your thoughts Jacques

R5 Shesha Ntombi at around 10/1 looks an each way play to me, has been running in stronger races, hasn't been this trip but ground out a win over 1500m, poor draw at 10 but a couple of scratchings soften that blow and 1.5 kg claimer up

The 2yo features more for watching than punting for me but would probably side with Master Magician (15/10) over the odds on fav in R7 given home ground advantage

R8 Quite a few down in class but Definitely Yes consistent in this grade and comes out well in the weight turnarounds against a few of these, would like a bigger price than the current 7/2 tbh as its competitive

R9 I like both the Plattner / Nel runners The Marquee 7/1 (on weight turnarounds) with de Melo up and Dricus 12/1 (record suggests not straight forward but has gone well for this jock)

Thanks South, swingers but no exacta on the Plattner horses and well played Jacques some nice wins and places there. Rich Mans World looks a bomb, I always like to see how WCP horses go first run in KZN but he has destroyed them.

a few early ones for sat -

g7 - fox on the run @ around 20/1 ew. plum draw, 1st run after gelding, fourie stays on. on his 5th in cape guineas when drawn widest (not helped by being only horse in 2nd stalls), i think could be a lurker if gelding has done the trick.

g6 beach verse @ around 14/16 to 1 ew. has had a good prep gallop at course 2 weeks ago and although tough draw, she will be flying home late as wants a bit more ground ideally, but no harm done at this sort of price.#

a few others on card i'm eyeing out but hoping for some bigger prices -

g8 - rose woott
g2 - me and you

Fairview Friday

Race 1 - Jazz Away (4/1) - Money for this horse. Great form since relocating.

Race 2 - Monkeys Wedding (7/1) - Top weight to shoulder but nice e/w bet.

Race 3 - Lots of talk for Missouri Flame (15/10) who just missed the winners box in her last run over C&D

Race 4 - Places on Kingdom of Heaven. (22/10 Top 3)

Race 6 - Amanatto (18/10) - Down in class. Runs over a better distance today.

Race 8 - Coastal Path (9/2) Also down in class and could go well after a short break.

Good luck with your selections Jacques, I am always to scared of Fairview.

And thanks for the thoughts guys for tomorrows racing. My thoughts below:

Race 1 - Me and You @ 8/1 (WSB) & Sand Dune @ 30/1
Me and You - I remember the Dam fondly, was good to me. Starting over the 1400m and the sibling won over the distance. Hoping with claim can maybe pop up, and stable has been in okay form with a small string.
Sand Dune been by Futura I think will love the step up in trip, and well related. Siblings have all won over the distance and hoping this could pop up from inform stable/Jock combo.

Race 3 - Kudakarin @ 8/5
On the run behind Turn it up, I think this could be the best bet on the day. Unless there is a good first timer.

Race 5 - Gladatorian @ 15/1 & Roland Garos @ 9/1
Gladatorian - Won it last year beating the Real Prince, and is worse at the weights, but this horse always gives a good showing in my opinion and seems to like Greyville track. Cant get hurt at those odds.
Roland Garos - Last win againest some really decent youngsters, could be anything and getting weight from the top ones, even if out at the MR.

Race 6 - Quickstepgal @ 4/1
Never backed this one but think will come back to best form, and think Wish List has bigger fish to fry later in the season. Heard maybe the July or was I smoking smothing.
Also really like Souths selection, taken some of that.

Race 7 - One Eye on Vegas @ 11/1
Has beaten the fav before and think will enjoy the Greyville track.
Will also follow with Souths, was on it in the Cape race, and thought was an above average showing.

Enjoy the days racings.

G1 - Me and You @ 7/1 ew. Field looks weak and interesting to see Azzie yard send down biggish string for card, possibly being housed at sons yard @ summerveld? On breeding sibling made a smart debut over 1000m and think being out of Querari should have plenty pace.

G2 - Saudi Sweep @ 8/1 ew. Blew her chances at start last time out, gets in form appie on board claiming 2.5kg, and nice draw.

might add a few more tomorrow.

Not a bad day at Fairview yesterday.

I see most of my picks for today have already been mentioned by Southpaw and Kt. Just hope I don't jinx them!

Greyvillle
Race 1 - Mosaic World (14/10)
- Reckon the top 4 in the betting will fill the quartet as well. Iceberg Rose drawn wide - watch next time.

Race 2 - With Southpaw on Saudi Sweep

Race 3 - Open race. Top 4 bet on Enjoy The Ride @ 33/10

Race 4 - Director E/W @13/2

Race 5 - Questioning (8/10)

Race 6 - Just can't back Wishlist at 6/10. Quickstepgal with Kt @28/10. Keukenhof Top 3 19/20

Race 7 - Again with Kt. One Eye On Vegas @ 13/2. Also like Fox On The Run, but think his aim is later this season.

Race 8 - Rahhabba (7/1) - Great form in KZN. Tries the distance for the first time.

Race 9 - Taxi To The Moon (5/2) - In great form. Distance specialist.

Thanks for all the insights guys and looking forward to another Champions season, just feels a little different with no Royal Victory, but plenty of younger horses have a say this year.

On to today, and good weather and a good card, hopefully we can all find plenty of winners and places.

Race 1 - Iceberg Rose EW @ 7/1 - She has improved in both races so far and despite the wide draw could go well with KDM on board.

Race 2 - Also in the camp of Saudi Sweep.

Race 4 - Bourbon's Beast EW @ 13/1 - Plenty with chances here but the odds are too high on BB. Fatigued in last run and form before that run was encouraging.

Race 5 - The Real Prince EW @ 9/1 - Prep run so not expecting much, but at these odds and his reputation surely worth a play.

Race 6 - Princess of Gaul EW @ 9/1 - Wish List has inflated all of the other runners, and these odds are too high on the filly. Gets a nice draw and brings solid Cape form.

Race 7 - Malmesbury Missile EW @ 16/1 - May not be stable elect but could surprise here. Ignoring last start as typical second run after a rest syndrome but should be in peak condition here with third run after a rest.

Race 8 - Ladyofdistinction EW @ 9/1 - Don't understand the odds here to be honest. The filly is ultra-consistent and Venniker knows her well. She loves the Greyville course with 4 wins and a second from five starts. Probably my best bet on the day, even the place value is there.

Great stuff guys, thanks a million for all the input for Saturday.

R2 Bank Street 11/2, loads with chances in this race, MR down to 1 point above last winning mark, good record on poly, bit of a ? about his record over this distance

R4 Apache AG 20/1 each way, hasn't shown much though often had excuses, 3rd run after a break and still a bit unexposed for top KZN yard and not the strongest of fields.

R5 Questioning one of my fav horses in training and I usually back him but not at odds on, will sit this one out in terms of punting but watching with great interest

R6 Ameilia's Legacy the total roughie at 40/1 but very unexposed, big strong girl, taking my chances to run in the top 3 places

R7 Tin Pan Alley a worthy fav imo but no fun at such a short price

R8 Was going to join South with Rose Woot but see scratched now. With Vinn again on Lady of Distinction the back up, now around 7/1, think going up to 2000m will suit

R9 I think O Tenikwa at these weights, hopefully will drift a bit as pretty skinny at 9/4

Enjoy guys

Great thoughts lads.

Adding a few from other races -

G4 - Bourbons Beast @ 12/1 ew. Like vin says does have some form and stable comments very positive despite fortune on the other one.

G5 - can’t look past questioning but as a lurker Cats Pajamas should be super fit and some others could need the outing. Will combine with favourite in exacta/swingers.

That was a hard watch for me on Saturday, really struggled.

Small each way bets at biggish prices at Kenilworth on Sunday, soft ground.

R3 Baton Rouge 16/1, decent c&d record and form in wet

R7 Otto Luyken 16/1 looks way overpriced on best form and also handles cut

R8 Worldly 16/1 based on weight turnarounds and the hope he can jump on terms for once

Then I'll throw in Blue Lagoon in the last race 6/1 win, was an expensive purchase, should still be unexposed.
