A bit of interest at Goodwood on Tuesday, try and get some coin back from a shocker on Gold Cup Day

R1 Noble Horizon 13/2 could still be ahead of its mark despite picking up a penalty after won easy last time out

R5 Vintage Clarets each way shout at 16/1 has some useful form earlier in career, signs of a revival lately which means nicely weighted here

R7 Electricfarhh, backed this one last time out and no show whatsoever, hoping rather than expecting there were valid excuses but no harm in an each way nibble at 16/1

Nice looking card at Scottsville today including a 30/1 e/w bet. Hope the weather plays along.

Race 1 -  Scots Wae Hae (12/10) moved up well on debut when third behind Kudikaran. Had a small rest to recover from a swollen left front. Hollywood comments are positive, seems one to keep an eye on for the coming season. Many other in the race with a place chance. Looking at riding arrangements, Kiartay (30/1) doesn't seem to be stable elect but can run into the quartets with the 4kg apprentice allowance.

Race 2 - In The Red (30/1) had excuses in both his last runs behind Eric Dubois and Rich Man's World. Ran under a length second to Kazenoyoni prior to that over C&D. This horse shouldn't be 30/1. Big field so swingers should pay. Scotch Again (5/2) was fancied on debut but got bumped at the start. Arkadin (20/1) has form and could place again with only 53kgs on his back. Watch the betting on Reign Man (13/2).

SW Box 1x6x9

Race 3 - Sparrow Man (23/20) steps up to 1600m and rated by the stable. Swingers with Trip To Venus (11/2) who was unlucky not to win last time out.  SW 4X5

Race 4 - Soho Celebrity (23/10)
finished runner up behind Christmas Rose over C&D last time out. Christmas Rose was entered for the weekends feature races, but did not make the cut. Hazel Green looks the main danger, but is carrying 4kgs more than Soho Celebrity.

Race 5 - Favorite Sohot Sowhat (21/20) is having her peak run. Top 3 Places on Disting (1/1) who has raced against stronger before.

Race 6 - Coast Of The Sun (4/10) is destined for bigger things. Should canter in here but way too short to back at this price. Klein Karoo top 3 places (19/20). Maingard stable has had a very successful Durban season and Craig Zackey won on him before.

Race 7 - Last Car To Pass (36/10) has form over 1600m and is the stables only runner on the day. Quite a few with chances. Go wide in the P6

Race 8 - Christmas Rose (13/2) mentioned earlier, nice e/w bet at these odds.

Goodwood Wednesday picks

Race 1 Hatteen, not much value at around 2/1 but improving with every run first time in a handicap and rating could be underestimating him

R2 Princess D'Orange, has been a bit in and out as a 2yo but on best form would be in the picture here so 18/1 looks an each way play

R3 Zanthos, at 11/2 gets weight from main rivals as a 3yo, hasn't fired on two starts this season but pobably had excuses, was top class as a juvenile and not sure ths is the strongest of Gr 3 races

Will see the next two out though the Gr 1 is a cracker with Bow Echo and Gstaad in action. Last two races will take my chances each way with a couple of Hail Mary's

R6 Ardius Invicta at 28/1 was running pretty well in higher grades last season, not much to shout about of late but rating is coming down

R7 The Fingal Raven 25/1, trainer likes this one to land a big handicap at some stage, whether thats today or not is a long shot but Saffie Osborne is in top form and riding for her dad here.

Some nice winners at Scottsville Jacques, well played mate

Don't like the look of most of the Goodwood card on Thursday but will have small interest in Birgham Dub in the first race, each way at 12/1. Apparantly well thought of by the yard but hasn't put it together in last couple of races but still lightly raced and plenty of time to come good,

Good day at Scottsville yesterday, but no real bomb results.

Just a few at the Vaal today:

Race 4 - Duke Of Lorraine (15/20). Yard could pick up where they left yesterday. She should have enough experience now, but formline of previous run is questionable. Echo Of The Wild (16/1), was backed when third in a workriders race last week. Worth an e/w. Vixeninthevineyard (14/1) found better form over this distance last time out and could place.

SW Box 2x5x6

Race 7 - Not much between Circle of Grace (12/1) and favorite, Itsnowornever, at the weights. Chasing some value here. Small e/w as Circle of Grace might be better over 1800m.

Race 8 - Time Will Tell (6/1) won once and placed second twice in 3 runs over C&D. He takes on stronger here. Favorite, Twentytwentyvision (13/10) runs against much weaker today, but hasn't been finishing his races off. Also Crawford yards 2nd last runner from their Randjiesfontein yard.

Race 9 - Lady Elliot (11/2) Stables only runner on the day. Good form over 1450m. Gavin Lerena booked to ride.

Not a good day at the Vaal yesterday

Fairview last meeting of the season:

Race 1 -  Money for Eternal Spirit (3/1) who over raced last time out. Nobody's Perfect (11/10) placed in both local starts but one gets the feeling that he should have won already. Exacta 3x4

Race 2 -  Kaleesh Cyborg (1/1) should win this easily. Was fancied last time out, might have just needed that run. Peak run today.

Race 3 - Rock Up (5/1) has local form and should be a big runner with only 54.5 on his back. Favorite not at that price for me. Looks to need further. Swingers with Lovely Dancer (15/2), who has been running well lately. SW 4X9

Race 4 - Ravilious (11/2) won his last two over C&D and carries only 52kgs here. Stable had quite a few winners this month.

Race 5 - All Systems Go (17/20) contested much stronger and weighted to win this easily. Returns from a long rest. Will back up with Ventura Boulevard in the P6 should he go missing somehow.

Race 6 - Winteronthegreen (15/4) enjoys the poly. Only 54.5kgs to carry from draw 1.

Race 7 - Amanatto (9/2) loves C&D and should go close here receiving weight from most of the field. Open race, with the likes of Bel Canto Dream, who won when tipped last time and Hospices De Beaune also having chances. Royal Dawn (25/1) can make the quartet pay.

Race 8 - Lana View (4/1) is very versatile and doesn't know how to run a bad race. Well in at the weights.

Race 9 - Wide open, looks like a field race for the P6. If pressed for a bet, Preserve Forever (13/2) enjoys C&D. Formline of her last race looks decent.

That caps off the season. A massive thank you to Chris for the continuous hard work going into the threads as well as Southpaw and the rest of the contributors for your valuable and insightful contributions. May the new season bring lots of joy and even more winners!

Thansk Jacques, I think I might have an interest in Royal Kailani in Race 8, half sister to Royal Victory, see she has relocated to her third province even after only 5 starts but I recall she was quite well thought of as a baby and can hopefully do well with Juan Nel.

Still boxing on at Goodwood, got to dash out so afraid no comments but chancing these who are prominent in the betting.

R1 Defiantly
R3 Blue Brother
R4 Rumstar
R5 Haatem
R6 Clash of Hearts

Ready for the new season. Nice looking card at Turffontein.

Race 1 -  Jack's Legacy (12/10) raced green and got caught wide when fancied in a workriders race first time out. Trainer/Jockey combo one to follow. First timer, Greenhillsofjamaica (33/20), by Gimmethegreenlight, is a R500 000 half-brother to Pressonregardless and could be anything. Watch the betting!

Race 2 - Money for Sherlock Holmes (15/4), who was narrowly beaten by Prayersandpromises over C&D in February. Again the Peter/Matsunyane combo. Sakura Hanami (11/2) has the beating of Geostorm and One Tiger on paper and with the extra experience, could be the value of the race. Spies stable fancies Trompe L'Oeil (29/20). Could be anything, but formline of maiden win looks weak.

Race 3 - Lonely As A Cloud (23/10) ran a close 3rd to Umzingeli Wenyathi earlier and could surprise with only 49.5kgs on her back. Mrs Stormiatrix (31/20) wins her races with ease but carries 60.5kgs here. Only these two for my P6

Race 4 - Whistle The Tune (9/2) holds Almond Sea (21/10) on paper and was not disgraced in feature races over further recently. African Pride (11/2) was fancied at Greyville this past Sunday, but looks held by Mount Pinatubo (18/10). 1,2,3,4 for the P6.

Race 5 - Dual Prophecy (24/10) is weighted to turn it around with Guerilla Warfare (5/1). The form of that race is working out extremely well, with three winners from 5 runners. Dark Silver (3/1) has good form over 2000m and is 1 from 1 over this distance with apprentice Samo-Burthia on. 1,2,5,6 for the P6

Have to run. Will post rest later

Thanks Jacques, Race 7 I'm with Harun Al Rashid (3/1) to turn things around with Sky Pilot from last run given he was back from a elngthy break might have needed it.

Earlier I will probably go with R3 Mount Pinatubo though you can give chances to others so would hope to see a drift from 18/10 or so.

Going to look at the last day of Goodwood and will post later

Goodwood Race 4 Stewards Cup, 28 runner 6 furlong charge, much of the tack being downhill. I'm with Mitbaahy, 2 good runs since wind surgery and due to go up 3 points in the ratings after this race, Some 22/1 around in UK with some books and that looks too big to me though obviously a really tough task to find the winner in a race such as this.

Races 6 - 8

Race 6 - Imported Mission To Mars (9/20) shed his maiden very well last time out and looks set to contest much bigger things this season. Swingers with Royal Edition (12/1) who is 1/1 with Gavin Lerena and was twice beaten under a length by The Playboy Bomber over this trip. RE also better off at the weights with TPB.

Race 7 - With Chris on Harun Al Rashid (33/10) who should turn it around with Sky Pilot (3/1). Ideal Summer (11/1) has been backed in his last three starts and could surprise. Orange County (5/1) is always thereabouts, but might be best over 1800m.

Race 8 -  Rising Eagle (1/1) comes with a big reputation. Won well on debut and has bigger things to come. Banker for me. Michael Faraday (33/1) is dropping in rating and won his last start over 1400m.

PA: 4,6 x 1,7 x 2,3 x 1,5 x 5 x 3,5 x 4 = R32

P6: 1,7 x 1,2,3,4 x 1,2,4,6 x 5 x 1,2,3,5 x 4 = R128

Top play Sakura Hanami Jacques . My Stewards Cup pick was touched off but a top effort to run third, had a few of those at Goodwood this week but great racing nonetheless.

On to Sunday and Scottsville, Winning Form Preview available here

Scottsville Sunday, just one for me, R5 Serpentine Fire 12.5/1 each way, MR has been dropping c and d winner, albeit some time time ago, drawn ok at 6, think Chad Little is the jockey change.
