The DP World Tour’s flagship event is back this week as the BMW PGA Championship returns to the Wentworth Club in Surrey. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the European calendar, drawing an elite field that mixes the very best of the DP World Tour with a number of familiar PGA Tour and LIV names making the trip across the Atlantic.
World Number One, Rory McIlroy heads the market at 9.50 as he chases a first BMW PGA Championship title, while defending Champion, Alex Noren returns to defend his crown after last year’s playoff victory. Add in the ongoing Race to Dubai fight and the atmosphere Wentworth always produces, and we should be in for a superb week of golf.
Course
Wentworth’s West Course is a par 72 measuring just over 7,300 yards (6675 meters) and remains one of the toughest tests on the DP World Tour. The Ernie Els redesign a few years back added serious length and firmed up the greens, and the closing stretch, particularly the par-5 18th, regularly produces some of the most dramatic finishes of the season. Accuracy off the tee is essential given the tree-lined fairways, while a strong short game is a must around the small, undulating greens.
This is a course that rewards proven Wentworth form. Winners here tend to be strong ball-strikers who can control their approach shots and stay patient over four rounds. Course history matters more here than at almost any other DP World Tour venue, so backing players with a strong record around the West Course has been a reliable angle in recent years.

Rory McIlroy is the clear market favourite at 9.50, and it is easy to see why given his recent form and the fact that a first BMW PGA Championship title has long been a glaring omission from his CV. Behind him, Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood and Jon Rahm are all bunched at 15.00 as the next wave of contenders, followed by Matt Fitzpatrick at 17.00 with Viktor Hovland 19.00 and Joaquin Niemann at 21.00. The market is fairly tight beyond the top pick, which suggests plenty of value can be found at bigger prices.

Our first pick of the week is a form pick, and we are going to go with Joaquin Niemann. Niemann finished his LIV season with two solid results, winning the event in Bedminster and following it up with a 17th at the event in Indianapolis. The question heading into last week was whether he could bring that form onto the DP World Tour at the Irish Open, and he did. Although he finished eleven shots off the lead due to Shane Lowry having a remarkable week, Niemann still came home in second place. If he can carry that momentum into this week, we think we could see another very solid finish from him at Wentworth.

Aaron Rai at 31.00
Our next pick is someone who knows how to play well at Wentworth, and that is Aaron Rai. In his last three starts at the tournament he has finished runner-up in 2023, fourth in 2024 and third in 2025, three top-five finishes in three years, which is remarkable course form. Rai also returns to Wentworth this year as a Major Champion after winning the PGA Championship earlier in the season. That gives him the one thing many felt he was previously lacking, the ability to close out a big tournament, and with a maiden Major now under his belt, we think this could be the year he finally converts one of those Wentworth near-misses into a win.

Patrick Reed at 26.00
Our final pick of the week is the current DP World Tour Race to Dubai leader and a player who always seems to bring his A-game to Wentworth, Patrick Reed. Reed comes into this week off the back of a solid performance at the Irish Open, where he finished tied runner-up, and he leads the Race to Dubai after winning two tournaments earlier this season along with a string of other strong results. Even more important is his form at Wentworth itself: in his last four starts here he has finished inside the top five every time, fourth in 2019, fifth in 2022, and third in both 2020 and last year. Combine that form from last week with his outstanding Wentworth record, and we really like him at 26.00.
