The first major of the year is here as we turn our attention to Augusta National for the 2026 US Masters. The field of 91 players features the very best in the world alongside past champions who know exactly what it takes to navigate this famed layout.

We look at this week’s tournament from a betting perspective and highlight a few selections to take on the bookmakers ranging from 11.00 to 101.00.

The Course (Augusta National Golf Glub)

Augusta National remains one of the most iconic and strategically demanding courses in world golf. While it has been lengthened over the years to keep pace with modern power, it is far more than a test of distance with precision, course management and elite approach play remain the defining factors.

The par 72 measures 7,565 yards (6,917 metres), but the true defence lies in its severe elevation changes and lightning-fast greens.

Augusta is renowned for its large, undulating Bentgrass greens, where simply hitting the surface is not enough. Players must find the correct tiers and sections, otherwise they are left with extremely difficult two-putts or delicate recovery shots. This makes approach play arguably the most critical aspect of the week.

Around the greens, tightly mown run-off areas place a premium on short game creativity, with players often forced to play bump-and-runs, flop shots, or putts from well off the green.

The course also features several risk-reward holes, most notably on the back nine, where tournaments are often decided. The famous “Amen Corner” (holes 11, 12 and 13) is one of the most challenging stretches in golf and regularly plays a pivotal role in shaping the leaderboard.

While power off the tee is an advantage, Augusta consistently rewards players who:

  • excel in strokes gained approach
  • manage distance control into the greens
  • possess a sharp short game
  • and can handle the pressure of fast, sloping greens

The four par 5s are key scoring opportunities, and historically, players who dominate these holes tend to contend. Conversely, the par 3s can be punishing and often act as momentum shifters.

Ultimately, Augusta National is a second-shot golf course, and those who combine elite ball-striking with a hot putter are typically the ones who slip into the Green Jacket on Sunday.

Selections:

Matt Fitzpatrick at 19.00

Fitzpatrick arrives in outstanding form, with a runner-up finish at The Players Championship followed by a win at the Valspar Championship. His all-round game is trending perfectly heading into a major.

This will be his 12th Masters appearance, and that experience is invaluable at Augusta. His recent record here includes consistent finishes inside the top 25, with a best of top 10 in that span.

Given his current form and growing confidence in contention, he looks primed for a serious run at a second major title.

Suggested bet: Matt Fitzpatrick each way at 19.00.

Ludvig Aberg at 17.00

Åberg continues to impress and comes into this week in excellent form, with three consecutive top-5 finishes on tour, including results at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players Championship and the Valero Texas Open.

Despite limited experience at Augusta, he has taken to the course exceptionally well, finishing runner-up on debut and backing that up with a top-10 finish in his second appearance.

His elite ball-striking and composure under pressure make him a perfect fit for Augusta, and he looks set to contend again.

Suggested bet: Ludvig Åberg each way at 17.00 with weighting towards a top 5 finish at 4.50

Bryson DeChambeau at 11.00

DeChambeau arrives in red-hot form from the LIV Tour, having recorded back-to-back victories. His power off the tee gives him a clear advantage on Augusta’s par 5s, which are crucial scoring holes.

He has also shown strong recent Masters form, finishing 5th and 6th in his last two appearances.

With his confidence high and his game in peak condition, he looks a serious contender to add another major title.

Suggested bet: Bryson DeChambeau each way at 11.00.

Corey Conners at 76.00

Conners is one of the most reliable Augusta specialists in this price range. His game is built around elite ball-striking and approach play, which is exactly what Augusta demands.

He has an excellent Masters record, including multiple top-10 finishes, and consistently ranks highly in strokes gained tee-to-green. While the putter can be inconsistent, Augusta’s greens tend to level the playing field slightly, and his ability to hit the correct sections of greens gives him a major advantage.

At 76.00, he represents strong each-way value for a player with a proven Augusta record and a pair of top 15’s in his last 2 starts.

Suggested bet: Corey Conners each way at 76.00

Harris English at 101.00

English is a very interesting longshot this week and fits the profile of a player who can outperform odds at Augusta.

He combines:

  • strong short game and scrambling
  • solid approach play
  • and a calm temperament suited to major championship golf

He has previously shown the ability to contend in big events and has a respectable Masters record with 2 top 25’s and a 12th place (last year) in 4 starts. Importantly, Augusta often rewards experienced players who understand how to manage the course rather than attack it blindly and he has been in solid enough form with 6 top 30 finishes in his last 7 starts.

Suggested bet: Harris English each way at 101.00
