RACE 1
U S RANGER made the expected natural improvement when winning his second start over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Act Of War is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1200m. He is the stable elect with Richard Fourie aboard, and can follow up with another victory.
MASTER MTOTO won a game race on debut over 1000m on this course. The son of Real Gone Kid would have come on from the outing and gets the tongue-tie fitted. He could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
FYFIELD LEGEND may not have been at his best on the polytrack last time. His penultimate run when beaten a short-head by the second choice was eye-catching. He steps up to 1200m and if suited to the extra distance on offer, he should be involved at the finish.
RACE 2
MAGNUS THE GOOD showed good improvement when second over this C&D last time. He raced on the speed, but found one too good in the form of Winteronthegreen. Stallone Naidoo retains the ride and if confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better in this line-up.
HERE COMES JOHNNY has finished third in his last three starts on this course. He finished 1 length behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
ATLANTIC PEARL has finished second in her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1200m on this course. She drops back to 1000m and with her sex allowance, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 3
ROYAL CITY GIRL ran a fair race when third in the Listed Breeders Guineas last time. She won her previous two outings on the polytrack. The daughter of Royal Mo should have no issues with the rise to 1800m as she has finished fourth over 2000m previously. Despite carrying top weight, she may be the one to beat.
WISHES AND DREAMS is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Aloe Stakes. Her form prior to that outing was solid. The daughter of Canford Cliffs should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SILVAN MISTRESS finished 4.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 4
LANCIAFIAMME was given a well-timed ride when winning his last start over 1800m on this course. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. The son of Fire Away jumps from a good draw of three and can follow up.
ZINOVI finished 4.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The son of Heavenly Blue has won three times and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D.
GUY GIBSON lost a length leaving the start over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish fourth. He has finished second twice and third three times from seven starts over this distance. The son of Lancaster Bomber will be mowing down the frontrunners.
RACE 5
SUN SPECTACULAR has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Master Of My Fate gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Bavish Soodoo which will assist her cause. She should get a good run in transit from pole position and can return to winning ways.
ROYAL MERMAID finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
QONDANEKUKHANYENI showed good signs of a form return over this C&D last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. She drops back in class and if confirming her recent improvement, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 6
CORAL CREEK‘S last two starts have been good. He was running on when third over this C&D last time. The son of Global View has cracked pole position and gets the cheekpieces fitted for the first time. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
FLOWER FESTIVAL ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. She was reported to be cut into on her right hind that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. She jumps from a good draw of four and should give the males a run for their money.
ICHACHA had excuses in his first start in the Eastern Cape. The son of Danon Platina returns from a 10-week break. He is the stable elect with Marco van Rensburg in the saddle and there should be good improvement to come.
RACE 7
MARCHLAND was super-impressive when winning on debut over this C&D. She showed speed, found a good kick and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Malmoos would have gained from the experience. She looks to be above average and can remain unbeaten.
CHATTERBOX is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. Her mother, Kitty Cat Chat was a four- time winner from 1000m – 1250m. If not in need of the experience, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
DAFFODIL DELIGHT was a tad disappointing when 8.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She won a good race on debut over 1000m on this course. If finding the form of that effort, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 8
DIABLO produced a good first run in the Eastern Cape. He was slow into stride, but ran on nicely to finish third over 1000m on the polytrack. The son of The United States would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If getting away on terms, he may be the horse to close the meeting.
RHYTHM has decent recent form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer to the winner last time. Craig Zackey retains the ride and with luck in running, he should pose a massive threat.
MUNCHKIN found one too good in the form of Wissa’s On Fire last time. He returns from an 11-week break which would have done him the world of good. 4kgs claiming Apprentice Girish Dookhit retains the ride and if fit, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
