Race 1
BELLIGERENT‘S last three starts have been decent. She stayed on when fourth over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. ASCALON DANCER is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Gareth van Zyl stable with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Mia Moo and Two G’s. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
GREATEST HIT is a son of Canford Cliffs from the Wengesai Masawi yard with Hollywood Racing-retained Jockey Sean Veale up. He is related to four-time winner Heathcliff. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 2
EASTERN HIGHLANDS caught the eye when fourth over 1200m on this course, on debut. He returns from an 18-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Danon Platina will love the rise to 1400m and if fit, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TARGARYEN KNIGHT showed good improvement when second over 1200m on this course last time. He stayed on strongly at the finish that day. It must be noted that the horse that finished third has come out and won since. He should enjoy the extra 200m on offer and is one of the leading contenders from pole position.
CARNARVON hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. He has decent consistent form lines to his credit. If all went well with his travels, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 3
MISS TWINKLE is the best bet on the programme. She was running on when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Oratorio is a progressive type and if suited to this course, she should be the one to beat.
RED LHASA ran on well when second over this distance on the polytrack last time. She has cracked pole position and if confirming her recent improvement, she should be competitive.
SHEEZAROCKET was unlucky not to have won her last start over this distance on the polytrack. She will strip a much fitter horse and if all goes according to plan, she should be right there.
Race 4
BEAUTIFUL RANIA was running on when sixth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. The daughter of Twice Over drops back in class and S’manga Khumalo may be able to get the best out of her where it matters most.
LAST GINGER has fair recent form lines to her name. She has won once and finished third twice from as many starts on this course. She is likely to race on the speed from her good draw of four and may be hard to peg back.
FLYING REIGN STORM won a game race in her last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If Rachel Venniker is able to switch her off early, she can follow up with another victory.
Race 5
RADU tried hard when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She raced from a handy position and rallied late. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. The daughter of Rabada has dropped to a competitive rating and she can go one better.
GREENHOUSE finished 0.05 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms tonight and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
PRINCESS PALACE won a game race over 1800m on this course last time. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Potala Palace meets a similar line-up this evening and she merits healthy respect.
Race 6
GLOBAL MOVEMENT raced wide around the turn over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, and understandably did not go on with the effort. The 7yo gelding won his only attempt over this C&D. Apprentice Dezahn Louw takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He drops in class and can notch up his fourth-career victory.
MOHANDAS challenged strongly when third over 2000m on this course last time. The blinkers remain fitted and he is one of the leading contenders.
THAMBI ran on from last when fourth over 1600m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
CONTINENTALEXPRESS was an easy winner of his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Vercingetorix is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
DANCING ON A CLOUD finished 3.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights tonight and should finish closer as a result.
THE MIKADO finished 3.3 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around. However, he should finish closer as a result.
Race 8
This is a competitive Middle Stakes and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PERILLA from the Dennis Bosch stable. She finished 0.3 lengths behind ONE SMART COOKIE last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights which is enough to turn the form around. She has won three times and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. Serino Moodley is booked to ride, and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
MALCOLM‘S DREAM finished 0.9 lengths behind ONE SMART COOKIE in the race referred to above. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and should turn the form around.
CELTIC BEAUTY ran a good race when fourth in her comeback run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Vercingetorix would not be a shock winner.

IMPOSING was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. That was his first run for the Gareth van Zyl stable. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is in a good space and may be the one to side with.
