Race 1
DRIELANDENPUNT ran a creditable race when third over this C&D last time. The son of The United States was staying on at the business end that day. He meets the right field and from pole position, he can shed his maiden tag.
BLACK PLATINA was running on when third over this distance last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Dezahn Louw which will assist his cause. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CAPTAIN‘S DYNASTY finished sixth over this distance on the turf last time. The son of Captain Of All carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if taking to the surface, he may have more improvement to come.
Race 2
QUEEN FENN was running on too late when second over 1000m on this course last time. Her record over this distance is a slight concern but she is in a good space, and can go one better.
SPIRIT OF SHIMLA is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
AREYOUREADY is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Tony Rivalland yard with Mathew Thackeray doing duty. She is related to multiple winners including Icy Night and Ignitethelight. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 3
XIPHOS has finished second in his last three starts. He set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Military Force. Callan Murray steps into the saddle and the combination may be hard to peg back.
ROY’S BLOSSOM produced a decent debut effort over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Time Thief would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.
FINE DINING showed good improvement when running on over this C&D last time. The son of Vercingetorix carries another handy galloping mass and if confirming his recent improvement, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
MAGIC SURPRISE has produced two good runs since winning his maiden. He raced from a handy position over this distance on the turf last time and tried hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. It is encouraging that Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle and he can return to winning ways.
PINETTI followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1000m on this course. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey retains the ride. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of eight, and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
UNITED NATION is a winner of his last two starts on this course. He takes on stronger, but is in a good space. With a bit of luck in running, he can bring up the hat- trick.
Race 5
SHE‘S A BOMBER produced a good seasonal debut when third over this C&D. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber will strip much fitter and wit Rachel Venniker retaining the ride, she can notch up her fifth-career victory.
PLUM PUDDING has good recent form lines to her credit. She won her only attempt on this course, four runs ago. The daughter of Silvano merits healthy respect.
AFROPOLITAN set the pace over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. He finished 1.4 lengths behind the second selection, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 6
MISS TWINKLE followed up her maiden win with a hard-fought victory over 1600m on the turf. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. The daughter of Oratorio tries the polytrack and if taking to the surface, she can bring up the hat-trick.
SASCHA‘S DREAM finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
ALANNAH tried hard when second over this C&D last time. She takes a big drop in class and with Muzi Yeni back in the saddle, she can notch up her second-career victory.
Race 7
This is a competitive Class 5 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ULTRA QUICK from the Alyson Wright stable. He lacked extra late when third over 1400m last time. His last victory came under 4kgs claiming Apprentice Damyan Pillay. He has won over this distance previously and from a good draw of three, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
BANZAI PIPELINE was running on when third over 1800m on this course last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should fight out the finish.
SPAARNE RIVIER made the expected natural improvement when winning his maiden over 1400m on this track. The son of Hawwaam takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 8
ISIKWISHIKWISHI took on much stronger in his last start over 1200m on the turf. He should have finished closer that day as he was inconvenienced at the 200m mark. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. The son of Alado drops back in class and he can return to winning ways.
IMPERIAL POWER cost himself leaving the start last time as he lost three lengths. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Damyan Pillay which will assist his cause. If jumping on terms, he can go close.
KIMBALL O’HARA finished 3.05 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result
