Race 1 The Value Lies With Green Getaway
Studying up on 10 super competitive races is no easy task and it's always encouraging to find a winner early on the card and get in front of the bookmakers. Plenty of attention has been given to the opening race and here is an early look at our wrap of this listed 1600m event.
12:15 - Race 1 - TOTE STAKES (Listed) - 1600m
The early betting for this race has Isivivane and Zeitz at the top of the boards. Both those horses ran in the Durban July earlier this month and Isivivane ran a very creditable fifth and in theory holds Zeitz but this much shorter distance could suit the latter and that also needs to be factored in. It’s by no means a two horse race though and of the seven runners that ran against each other over this trip in another race on July Day Better Man and Green Gateway both look to hold solid claims. I backed Better Man on July Day but this time I’m jumping ship and going with Green Gateway. Both were backed and finished well that day and Better Man just failed to get to the winner but at the start Green Gateway was untidy and soon found himself at the back of the field. The selection is also very lightly raced and therefore still unexposed when it comes to showing further improvement and I expect a bold run.

Support for King Pelles in the Gold Cup
There has been little to no movement in the early betting for Race 8 the Champions Cup and Race 6 the Mercury Sprint in the early part of this week however in the Race 7 the Gold Cup the favourite King Pelles has shortened into 17/10 from 2/1.

Sunday’s 10 race card at Greyville marks the finale of Champions season in KZN and here is a more detailed look at the card.
Race 1 Due off at 12:15 this is a listed contest over 1600m including the likes of Zeitz and Isivivane who ran in the Durban July earlier this month.
Races 2 and 3 are Grade 2 features are for the 2yo’s over 1200m whilst Races 4 and 5 see many of the best juveniles going over the mile.
Race 6 is The Mercury Sprint where the line up includes Buffalo Storm Cody and Questioning.
Race 7 is the Gold Cup and Justin Snaith saddles 3 runners including Ahead of the Facts, Magic Verse and Native Ruler whilst Durban July third placed runner King Pelles is your likely favourite.
Race 8 is the Grade 1 Champions Cup over 1800m and the field of 8 includes The Real Prince, Gladatorian, Dave The King, See It Again and Eight on Eighteen.
Race 9 is Grade 2 contest for fillies and mares over 2000m with ECP raider Anotherdanceforme part of a 13 strong field.
Race 10 is the final contest and it’s a competitive looking 1000m listed handicap.
