Race 1
Seven of the eight runners are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide. GRAPES OF WRATH is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Candice Bass stable with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. She is related to multiple Grade 1 winner Charles Dickens. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note.
NOBODY’S PERFECT is a daughter of Querari from the Justin Snaith yard with Richard Fourie doing duty. She is related to multiple winners including Danilo Danilovitch and Be Merry. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself.
ENTICEMENT hails from the Justin Snaith stable and she is a daughter of Erik The Red. She is related to four-time winner Global Impact. JP van der Merwe rides and if not in need of the experience, she should produce a positive showing.
Race 2
ERIC LIDDELL was doing his best work late after a slow start over 2000m last time. The son of Futura has some class about him and should be at home over 2500m. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and in this small field, he can return to winning ways.
TENPENNY has top consistent form lines to his credit. He produced a strong finish when victorious over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The son of What A Winter should have no issues with the rise to 2500m, he is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
LANDOFTHERISINGSUN finished 2 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 3
PHANTOM MAN has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Serino Moodley steps back into the saddle, he is likely to race on the pace and can go one better.
ROYAL INFLUENCER showed good improvement when returning from a 24-week break last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Royal Mo steps up to 1800m and the blinkers have been removed. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive.
SPANISH VERSE finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 4
WORLD SERIES showed massive improvement when shedding his maiden tag at the second time of asking over 1000m on this course. The son of One World showed a good turn of foot and drew clear of the opposition. He is progressive and looks to have class about him. He will love the rise to 1200m and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he can follow up with another victory.
CASPERITA was an easy winner on debut over 1000m at Fairview. The daughter of Fire Away could be anything, and if all went well with her travels, she can remain unbeaten.
QUERARI DANCER was unlucky not to have won her last start as the saddle slipped in running. The daughter of Querari will be ideally suited to the extra 100m on offer and she has a good chance.
Race 5
QUEEN REGENT is the top bet on the programme. She found betting support when third in the Grade 3 World Sports Betting Summer Fling Stakes last time. She over raced in the early stages that day, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Querari will be ideally suited to this distance. She is the best weighted runner in this contest and should take a power of beating.
BEACH VERSE was caught late when second in the Non-Black Type The Clapham Stakes last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix is an honest individual and if seeing out the 1800m, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
KATTEKWAADKWADRAAD is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. The manner in which she finished off her last outing suggests that she will love the rise to 1800m. Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle and she can earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 6
PRINCESS OF GAUL took the lead at the 300m mark last time before getting outrun late by BABELICIOUS. She finished 1 length behind that day and is 3kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1400m and she can return to winning ways.
SWIATEK may not have seen out the 2000m in the Grade 3 World Sports Betting Summer Fling Stakes last time. She has won three times, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this distance. On best form shown, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
BABELICIOUS is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was in the Listed Windhoek Olympic Duel Stakes. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 7
This is a competitive Grade 2 Diadem Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first choice is ALL THE RAGE from the Candice Bass stable. He was an impressive winner in the Non-Black Type Schweppes Winchester Sprint Cup last time. Despite taking an awkward stride in the early stages, he showed a good turn of foot and won with authority. The son of Rafeef will love the return to 1200m and if all goes according to plan, he can notch up his sixth-career victory.
I AM GIANT was running on when second in the Grade 1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship last time. Five of his six career victories have come over this distance. If not too far out of his ground, he should pose a massive threat.
ASIYE PHAMBILI is better than her last start in the Grade 1 Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes. She finished 0.7 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 8
Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest. HAPPY VERSE moved up with a ton in hand in the Grade 3 HKJC World Pool Politician Stakes last time before getting caught late by STAR MAJOR. The son of Vercingetorix will be at home over this distance. He is a temperamental individual and if all goes to plan in the prelims, he should take a power of beating.
WISH LIST was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time. The daughter of Legislate should have no issues with the rise to 2000m. Richard Fourie was aboard when shedding her maiden tag. She is in a good space and is a big runner.
STAR MAJOR won a good race in the Grade 3 HKJC World Pool Politician Stakes last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 2000m. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
Race 9
This is a competitive Listed Jet Master Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is JET FORCE from the in form Des McLachlan stable. He ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. His effort when sixth in the Grade 2 Ridgemont Green Point Stakes, three runs ago catches the eye. He is drawn widest of all, but Grant van Niekerk knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
GARRIX was far from disgraced when sixth in the Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met last time. He drops back to the mile and the blinkers will sharpen him up. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
SUGAR MOUNTAIN was not disgraced in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. The 7-year-old gelding always gives his best, and he would not be a shock winner.
Race 10
BACKINTHEFASTLANE may not have seen out the 1800m last time. He won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D in his penultimate outing. The son of Captain Of All has plenty of scope. JP van der Merwe steps back into the saddle and he may be the one to side with.
DOUBLE DISTILLED finished 0.4 lengths behind MIDWAY last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should pose a massive threat.
MIDWAY ran a fair race when fifth over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. If getting away to a clean start, he may find himself in front turning for home and may be hard to peg back
