Race 1
Five of the seven runners are first timers and the betting market will be the best guide. SWEET GREEN is an unraced daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Justin Snaith stable and Keagan de Melo is booked to ride. Her mother, Sweet Future was a five-time winner from 1000m to 1200m. If not in need of the experience, she should start her career on a positive note.
CATWALK KING showed signs of needing his debut effort over 800m on this course. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
OMKHULU BOSS is an unraced son of Malmoos from the Glen Kotzen yard with Richard Fourie doing duty. His mother, Risk Taker was a four-time winner from 1200m to 1600m. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 2
LOVING PRAGUE made the expected natural improvement when second over this C&D last time. He showed good speed and tried hard all the way to the line. The son of Prague is a progressive type and can go one better.
RED WAVE showed good speed over this C&D last time before getting outrun late. The son of Erik The Red is coming along the right way. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BARRY‘S BOY showed signs of needing his comeback run over this C&D. He produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Ideal World will strip much fitter and should have good improvement to come.
Race 3
GIVE IT LALDY produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He understandably raced green, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of One World found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.
SUGAR DADDY ran a good race when fifth on debut over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix took time to find his feet, but stayed on nicely at the finish. With the natural progression that is expected, he is one of the leading contenders.
VOLEGOV showed good improvement when 1.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
NOTE TO SELF is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. The son of Futura will strip a much fitter horse and with luck from the widest draw, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
SPIRIT OF LEVANA showed some signs of a form return when third over this C&D last time. She drops back in class and if confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a threat.
MIAMI SUMMER is a progressive type and won a good race over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He lost two lengths leaving the start, showed a good turn of foot and won going away. The son of The United States takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 5
HOLDING THUMBS has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position in the Listed Betway Algoa Cup last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of Vercingetorix has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. Despite his big mass of 63.5kgs, he can notch up his eighth-career victory.
AHEAD OF THE FACTS was an easy winner of the Listed Woolavington Stakes last time. He received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Futura has no stamina issues and merits healthy respect.
CONGRESSMAN finished 2.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around, but he should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
DIRECT HIT is unbeaten from five starts to date. The daughter of Canford Cliffs showed some signs of needing her seasonal debut over 1200m at Fairview. She is a filly that shows good speed and should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. She is loaded with class and if taking to this track, she should keep her unbeaten record intact.
ASIYE PHAMBILI ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint last time. She returns from a 19-week break and is having her first run for Trainer Lucinda Woodruff. The daughter of What A Winter won this race last year and will be looking to defend her title.
ROCCAPINA was not beaten far in the Grade 3 Dennis Drier Poinsettia Stakes last time. She returns from a 32-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of One World runs well for Aldo Domeyer and the combination cannot be discounted.
Race 7
GOLDEN PALM is a winner of her last five starts. She was an easy winner of her seasonal debut in the Listed Racehorse Owners Association Stakes at Fairview. The Grade 1 winning daughter of Master Of My Fate is loaded with class. If taking to the left-hand turn, she should take a power of beating.
REET PETITE is unbeaten from three starts to date. She raced from a handy position over this distance on the Winter course last time, showed a good turn of foot and won with a ton in hand. She does face her toughest test to date, but she is on the up and can remain unbeaten.
PRINCESS OF GAUL won a good race in the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship last time. The daughter of Vercingetorix tries the 1600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. GRAN CANARIA produced an encouraging comeback run over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He raced wide around the turn, but stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He will strip much fitter and with Andrew Fortune booked to ride, he can return to winning ways.
DELTA PRIDE followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Prince Of Tibet. The son of Hawwaam merits healthy respect.
TOUCHED BY ANGELS followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1200m. The son of Hawwaam should have no issues with the rise to 1400m and from pole position, he should be competitive.
Race 9
BEACH VERSE was an easy winner of her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The blinkers have done the trick on the daughter of Vercingetorix. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can follow up with another victory.
MIDNIGHT LADY followed up her debut victory with a good fourth-place finish over 1200m. The daughter of Legislate should love the rise to 1400m. If jumping on terms, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
ACT OF GRACE ran a good race when fourth over this distance on the Winter course. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she merits obvious consideration.
Race 10
SPORTS FAN hails from the visiting Alan Greeff stable. She flyjumped leaving the start last time and was reported to be not striding out post-race. The daughter of What A Winter was an impressive winner of her penultimate outing over this distance at Fairview. If all went well with her travels, she can notch up her third-career victory.
PINK PIGEON tried hard when third in the Listed Laisserfaire Stakes last time. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Querari gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Sifisokuhle Bungane which will assist her cause.
PEACE OF MIND finished 1.8 lengths behind DAME OF TRIX last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
