Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Saturday 4th October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
WITCHING HOUR has finished second in her last three starts. She stayed on at the finish over 1800m on this course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She jumps from a good draw of three and can shed her maiden tag.
CODEWORD is better than her last start over 1200m. She was touched off in her penultimate outing over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. If putting her best foot forward, she should pose a threat.
DRUMNADROCHIT is an unraced daughter of Rafeef from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. Her mother, Kelpie was a five-time winner from 1500m to 1600m. If not in need of the run, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.
Race 2
WAR SUMMIT caught the eye when third over this distance at the Vaal last time. He took time to find his feet and ran on from far back. The son of Act Of War is a progressive type and from his good draw of two, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
MY LUCKY CHARM was a beaten odds-on favourite in his last start over 1700m at the Vaal. His debut effort when second over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course was encouraging. He gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand.
OLYMPIAN GOLD found one too good in the form of Frere Jacques last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Potala Palace is a solid back-up for the St John Gray stable.
Race 3
PEREGRINE FALCON has good recent form lines to his credit. He was running on when third over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause. The son of Gimmethegreenlight may be rewarded for consistency.
PRINCE OF KILDARE stayed on when third over 1200m on this course last time. He finished 1 length behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
FOSTINOVO has fair recent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 4
GREATERIX is the best bet on the programme. He returns from a 31-week break which would have done him the world of good. Son of Vercingetorix was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes. He will be ideally suited to this distance and can return to winning ways.
CONFEDERATE is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Durban July as he was reported to be fatigued. He will be at his best over further but has the class to have a say in the outcome of this contest.
MONEY HEIST was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He does have racing fitness on his side and cannot be discounted.
Race 5
ZALATORIS was given a well-timed ride by Keagan de Melo when winning the Grade 2 Follow @WorldPool on X Umkhomazi Stakes last time. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break. He finished 1.3 lengths behind GOLDEN WARRIOR in his penultimate outing and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved at the finish.
CHARMING CHEETAH is better than his last two starts. His effort when second in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion catches the eye. If putting his best foot forward, he should pose a threat.
GOLDEN WARRIOR won a good race over 1600m on this course last time. He will be at his best over further but the booking of Richard Fourie is a big plus. The son of Heavenly Blue should give a good account of himself.
Race 6
VJ’S ANGEL raced from a handy position in the Grade 2 Bet With The World Gold Bracelet last time and stayed on to finish third. She returns from a 10-week break which may have done her the world of good. She is the best-weighted runner in this contest and may be the one to side with.
OLIVIA’S WAY was doing her best work late in the Grade 3 4Racing Jubilee Stakes last time. She returns from a 17-week break and makes her seasonal debut. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
MINOGUE ran a fair race over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The booking of Richard Fourie is a big plus. On best form shown, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 7
TIN PAN ALLEY raced from a handy position in the Grade 1 World Pool Moment Of The Day Premiers Champion Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Jan Van Goyen. He returns from a 10- week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of The United States carries a light mass of 50kgs and from his good draw of two, he may be the one to beat.
LUCKY LAD stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal in his seasonal debut. He would have come on from the run and with Richard Fourie back in the saddle, he should go close.
QUANTUM THEORY is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was his first outing for Sean Tarry. He jumps from a good draw of four and merits healthy respect.
Race 8
A BIT OF CLASS was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes last time. She returns from a 10-week break and makes her seasonal debut. The daughter of Futura should have no issues with the drop to 1200m. She does have ability and may be the one to beat.
BACK FROM WAR ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she is one of the leading contenders.
PRETTY PERSUASIVE followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She does face a competitive field, but can bring up the hat-trick.
Race 9
SINGLETON SAM followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Mighty Eagle. Apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He jumps from a good draw of four and may be the one to side with.
OMBUDSMAN fought hard for his last victory over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride, and the combination merit healthy respect.
READ ALL ABOUT IT returns from a 14-week break. He has finished third in his last three starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. If not in need of the run, he should be right there at the finish
