Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Sunday 23rd November where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Note, due to rain on Saturday this meeting has been switched from Turffontein to the Vaal, check for scratchings
Race 1
ROCKABILLY should give punters a good start to the day. He produced a promising debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. He raced from a prominent position but found one too good in the form of Queensland. The son of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and if not too green around the turn, he can go one better.
OLD FASHIONED stayed on when third over this distance at the Vaal. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HAWKSDALE was disappointing in her last start over 1200m at the Vaal. It must be noted that the winner and second-place horse have come out and won since. She drops to 1000m and the blinkers should sharpen her up. She is a filly with scope and can improve.
Race 2
WINTER BELLE stayed on when third over 1160m on the Standside course last time. The daughter of What A Winter drops to 1000m and the blinkers should sharpen her up. She is having her peak run today and can shed her maiden tag.
VARACHINO‘S CHAMP ran a creditable race on debut behind the highly-rated Manyeleti. The daughter of Soqrat would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be competitive.
MASTER‘S LADY should have finished closer last time as the saddle slipped in running. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D catches the eye. She will be at peak fitness and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
MILITARY MOVES showed good improvement when second over this C&D last time. He was running on well at the business end that day. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and from his good draw of two, he can go one better.
ASIAH‘S TIARA found one too good in the form of Texas Missile last time. She finished third over this C&D, three runs ago. The daughter of Rabada is a consistent individual and must be considered.
EUPHRATES finished 3.4 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. The son of Wings Of Desire will be staying on at the business end.
Race 4
CONSTELLATION showed good speed over this distance at the Vaal last time before getting outrun late by Espinoza. The son of What A Winter would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is unbeaten under Callan Murray and will be looking to keep that record intact.
TOP DIVISION cost himself winning last time as he hung outwards in the final 200m. The son of Gimmethegreenlight won on debut over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
XENOPHON won a good race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The drop to 1000m should not be an issue for the son of Vercingetorix. Craig Zackey retains the ride and he should be involved at the finish.
Race 5
LEAD THE CHARGE was outrun late when third over 1160m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that Buffalo Storm Cody has come out and won again since. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Lancaster Bomber drops in class and with luck in running, he can return to winning ways.
ESPINOZA showed good speed when winning his last start over this distance at the Vaal. The son of Rafeef is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
RONDEBOSCH has decent recent form lines to his name. He showed signs of needing his comeback run over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
FATHER CHRISTMAS was running on when third in his first outing for the Tony Peter stable. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should enjoy the step up to 1600m. He will strip much fitter and if keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.
FRERE JACQUES followed up his maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is lightly raced and should be involved at the finish.
COPPOLA showed guts when winning his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is carded to race on 20 November 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 7
SPEEDMAN produced a strong finish when winning on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1450m. He jumps from a good draw of two. The son of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but he could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
GUERILLA WARFARE stayed on at the finish when fourth over this C&D last time. Apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto takes the 2.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He drops back in class and cannot be discounted.
MONKEY PUZZLE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1400m on the Standside course last time. He finished second in his only attempt on this course, three runs ago. Callan Murray is booked to ride and the combination should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 8
MAX THE MAGICIAN was unlucky not to have won his last start over this C&D as he had to be steadied at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won his penultimate outing over 1600m on this course. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and with luck in running, he can notch up his sixth-career victory.
OBSIDIAN is better than his last start over 1600m on this course. He won his previous three outings. The son of Erupt gets the blinkers fitted and can find a form return.
SKITTLES SKIES won a good race over 1800m on the Standside course last time. The drop to 1450m is a slight concern but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
Race 9
GRAND EMPIRE was an easy winner on debut over 1160m on the Standside course. He showed good speed, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should have no issues with the rise to 1450m. He takes on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
LONGSWORD is the stable companion of the top choice. He stayed on after a slow start over 1000m at the Vaal last time. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
CHIEFTAIN‘S SHIELD is better than his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. On previous form, he should be involved at the finish
