Race 1
Four of the seven runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide. LANZAROTE is a daughter of Erupt from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. Her mother, La Quinta won on debut over 1100m. If not in need of this outing, she may start her career on a winning note.
VOLCANIC HEAT hails from the Robyn Klaasen stable and she is a daughter of Erupt. Calvin Habib will do duty and if not too green in running, she may produce a promising showing.
NO DRAMA is a daughter of Erik The Red from the Paul Matchett yard with Philasande Mxoli booked to ride. She is related to two-time winner On Target. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.
Race 2
TURN IT UP produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Querari would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.
STATUS SYMBOL finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice on debut. He lost a length leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the outing and should make the natural progression.
TIME IS PRECIOUS is an unraced son of Querari from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. His mother, Twilight Hour won on debut over 1200m. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
Race 3
SAKURA HANAMI has finished fourth in both her career efforts to date. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the final 400m. The daughter of What A Winter is a progressive type and she should give the males a run for their money.
CONTINENTAL KING ran an encouraging race on debut over 1200m on the Inside course. The son of Rafeef would have come on from the outing and there should be good improvement to come from him.
SPECIAL AL is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Sean Veale booked to ride. He is related to eight- time winner Winter Waves. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
Race 4
POWER OF PEARLS has good form lines to her credit. She was running on when second over 1200m on the Inside course last time. The daughter of Pathfork finished third on debut on this course. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
INSPIRATION was caught late when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BLOOMING LOVELY produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. She took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Canford Cliffs would have gained from the experience and she should make the natural improvement.
Race 5
KING HARALD finished 1.2 lengths behind YIPPEE KIYAY last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Erik The Red is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he can notch up his second-career victory.
YIPPEE KIYAY was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1200m at the Vaal. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody clearly has ability and can follow up with another victory.
ONE FINE WINTER has good form lines to her credit. She returns from a 19-week break and is making her seasonal debut. The daughter of What A Winter has class about her and if not in need of the run, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
OMBUDSMAN fought hard for his last victory over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. The son of Flower Alley received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is drawn wide in barrier nine, but gets the services of Craig Zackey who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
PALACE ATTACK followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1400m at the Vaal. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Potala Palace has ability and must be considered.
OPEN HIGHWAY was running on when second over this C&D last time. The son of Var gets the blinkers fitted which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can feature.
Race 7
LEAD THE CHARGE finished 0.85 lengths behind GIMMETHEGOODLIFE last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. The son of Lancaster Bomber is drawn on the outside of the course and can return to winning ways with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride.
ESQUEVELLE‘S last two starts after returning from a 13-week break have been good. He is having his peak run and should be cherry-ripe. The 7yo gelding should run another honest race.
GIMMETHEGOODLIFE showed speed when winning his last start over 1000m at the Vaal. He received a four- pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
Race 8
NKANDLA GOLD moved up well over this distance at the Vaal last time, before getting touched off by Oriental Bouquet. The son of Linngari has dropped to a competitive rating and from his good draw of four, he can go one better.
INAFIX took on slightly stronger last time. He finished 1.2 lengths behind HIS LORDSHIP in his penultimate outing. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
HIS LORDSHIP is better than his last start over this distance on the Inside course. He ran a good race when third over 1160m on this course in his penultimate outing. The booking of Gavin Lerena is a big plus
