LUWAK has finished third in both his efforts to date. He returns from a 13-week break, during which time he was gelded. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Gavin Lerena who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
RED SUNRISE showed improvement when fourth over this C&D last time. The son of Erik The Red is a progressive type and is the stable elect with Craig Zackey up. From his good draw of three, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 2
DUCHESS OF PALOMA cost herself winning last time as she hung in the final 400m. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Callan Murray retains the ride from pole position and if keeping on a straight line, she can go one better.
WINDS OF GRACE finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
WITCHING HOUR was reported to be fatigued after her last two starts. The daughter of Rafeef gets the blinkers fitted which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination merit obvious consideration.
Race 3
DUAL PROPHECY was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Standside course. He returns from a 16-week break which would have done him the world of good. He races well fresh and with luck from his awkward draw of eight, he can notch up his third-career victory.
PAGE BOY produced a strong finish when winning his last start over 1800m at the Vaal. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Flower Alley is in a good space and should be competitive.
OLYMPIAN GOLD is a progressive type and shed his maiden tag over 1600m on this course last time. The son of Potala Palace takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should give a good account of himself.
Race 4
PUMPKIN PIE stayed on well when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. He found betting support that day and the form has been franked. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he should not have any issues with the extra distance on offer. Serino Moodley retains the ride, and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
HAWKBILL has good recent form lines to his credit. Two of his four career victories have come over this distance. He is drawn widest of all, but Craig Zackey knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
THE ULTIMATE KING finished 1.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
MISS HANNIGAN has fair recent form lines to her name. She raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, but did not go on with the effort. If putting her best foot forward, she may be the one to beat in this small field.
FROZEN FANTASY is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring F & M Challenge. She is a filly with ability and on best form shown, she should be right there. She is carded to race on 28 October 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
JUNIPER GREEN set the pace over 1200m on this course last time before getting outrun late. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Querari carries a light mass and may be hard to peg back.

BIG UNIT stayed on when second over this C&D last time. That was his first run on the Highveld and he will strip much fitter. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can notch up his fifth-career victory.
FULLY LOADED has good recent form lines to his credit. He finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate outing. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
AFTER HOURS was running on when third over 1600m at the Vaal last time. Three of his 12 career victories have come over this C&D. He is carded to race on 23 October 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

SLINKY MAPIMPI is better than his last start in the Grade 2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge. Three of his four career victories have come over this distance. He drops back in class and with Callan Murray booked to ride, he should be involved at the finish.
THAT’S MY BABY is better than her last start over this C&D. Her last two victories have come under Craig Zackey and on best form shown, she should give the males a run for their money.
MAX THE MAGICIAN was an easy winner of his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

LADY SABRINA stayed on at the finish when third over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course last time. Her last victory came over 1600m on this course. She jumps from a good draw of three and despite carrying top weight, she can return to winning ways.
MERRYWEATHER followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
