Race 1
ITSNOWORNEVER stayed on at the finish when fourth over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The son of Global View will love the rise to 2400m. With luck from the widest draw, he can shed his maiden tag in this field.
EUPHRATES finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
HEROIC ACT is still a maiden after 19 starts. He stayed on when fourth over 2000m last time. The son of Captain Of All finished third in his only attempt over this distance. Philasande Mxoli rides and the combination cannot be discounted.
Race 2
MAJALUN followed up his maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over 2400m on this course. He set the pace before tiring late. The son of Vercingetorix may be ideally suited to this distance and from a good draw of three, he may be the one to side with.
INSTANT ATTRACTION set the pace over 1800m last time before getting outrun late. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. POMOZELOUS finished 1.35 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be running on.
Race 3
AFTER HOURS finished 1.1 lengths behind COPPOLA last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. Four of his 12 career victories have come on this course. He jumps from a good draw of three and should run another honest race.
COPPOLA stayed on when fourth over 1800m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Jarryd Penny knows him well and the combination merit healthy respect.
UNSOLVED RIDDLE has consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding will be staying on at the business end.
Race 4
TINA LOVELACE found one too good in the form of Golden Palm in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes last time. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Danon Platina has some class about her and if not in need of the run, she can return to winning ways.
ELEGANTRIX set the pace in the Grade 2 World Pool With Race Coast Debutante last time, tried hard but was touched off by Princess Of Gaul. The Corne Spies stable has found form, and she merits healthy respect.
WORLD OF ALICE is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Tote Oaks. She returns from a 19-week break, drops in trip and the blinkers have been re-fitted. She does prefer further, but has the class to have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
PALACE PRINCE was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1600m last time. He cost himself winning in his penultimate run over 1200m as he lost three lengths leaving the start. The son of Potala Palace drops back in class and if jumping on terms, he can notch up his third-career victory.
STREWN SKY showed good signs of a form return over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. If confirming his recent improvement, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
BLOOMINGTON finished 0.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 6
ICE DRAGON was an impressive winner on debut over this distance. He raced on the speed, showed a good turn of foot and drew off in the closing stages. The son of Lance takes on stronger, but he looks to have some class about him. Philasande Mxoli retains the ride, and the combination can remain unbeaten.
PIVOTAL ROLE made the expected natural improvement when winning over 1000m on this course last time. He carries a light mass of 49.5kgs. The son of Hawwaam has plenty of scope and he is one of the leading contenders.
MISTER WILSON ran a good race when third with the blinkers fitted over 1000m last time. The son of Act Of War tries the 1200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 7
MYSTICAL MISS was her own worst enemy on the turn last time as she hung outwards. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Rafeef won on debut over this distance at Turffontein. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and may be the one to side with.
CHROME TOURMALINE is better than her last start in the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint. She has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia takes the 2.5kgs off her back which will assist her cause.
CLAIRWOOD ROSE stayed on when third over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She won on debut over this C&D. She carries another handy galloping mass of 52kgs and can finish in the placings.
Race 8
RAINING RUBIES has taken on stronger company in her last two starts. It must be noted that Komati River has come out and won again since. The 6yo mare takes a drop in class and she is drawn on the outside of the course. Jeffrey Syster steps back into the saddle and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
QUEEN’S PACT followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over this distance. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
PARADISE WAY finished 1.2 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result
