POWER OF TIGER has fair recent form lines to her name. She found one too good in the form of Precocious last time. Thomas Ncume rides and in this field, she can shed her maiden tag.
VARACHINO‘S CHAMP finished 4.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. She gets the services of capable work rider Tshepiso Matsoele which is a big plus.
AMAZE ME stayed on when third over 1200m last time. The drop to 1000m is a slight concern, but if confirming her recent improvement, she can finish in the placings.
Race 2
SECRETARY BIRD is the best bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Turffontein. She received a bump leaving the start, but finished off her race strongly. The daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.
NO DRAMA has finished third in both her efforts to date. The daughter of Erik The Red has scope and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
VERSATILITY finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection on debut. The daughter of Twice Over would have come on from the outing and should make the natural progression.
Race 3
TIME IS PRECIOUS ran a good race on debut over 800m at Turffontein. He jumped awkwardly leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Querari would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1000m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
BUFFALO KING CODY finished 0.25 lengths behind CATFISH last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
CATFISH showed speed over this distance last time, but found one too good in the form of Flower Island. The son of Danon Platina is coming along the right way and should be involved at the finish.
Race 4
STONEYWOOD has finished second in his last two starts over this distance at Turffontein. He was reported to have over reached on his left front last time. The son of William Longsword is a progressive type and in this field, he can shed his maiden tag.
ROCK MUSIC was reported to be fatigued after his last outing at Turffontein. He finished second in his penultimate run over this C&D. Apprentice Sifisokuhle Bungane takes the 4kgs off his back which will assist his cause.
TREASURE STATE ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. She lost a length leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of The United States would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
AFRICAN PRIDE showed good speed over this distance at Turffontein last time before getting caught late by Chapbook. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Rafeef won his only attempt over this C&D. Trent Mayhew knows him well and he may be hard to peg back.
MIAMI MOUNTAIN was given a well-timed ride when winning his last start over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand.
COSMIC STAR ran a fair race in the Grade 3 Betway Lebelo Sprint last time. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts on this course. On previous form, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 6
GIMMEACHOICE ran a good race when second over 1800m at Turffontein last time. He finished 0.25 lengths behind THE PLAYBOY BOMBER that day. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He will strip much fitter and can go one better.
THE PLAYBOY BOMBER won a game race over 1800m at Turffontein last time. He tries the 2000m and if suited to the extra distance on offer, he can follow up with another victory.
JORDAN finished 3.6 lengths behind the second choice in the race referred to above. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
CARNELO was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, showed a good turn of foot and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Greys Inn received a four-pound penalty for that victory. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming Apprentice Savanna Valjalo and can follow up with another victory.
AGOGE is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Betway Got The Greenlight Stakes last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has plenty of scope and would not be a shock winner.
PEACE TREATY moved up well over 1800m last time, but found one too good in the form of Crepuscolo. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Act Of War cannot be discounted.
Race 8
AFRICAN PRINCE ran a good race in his first outing for the Roy Magner stable. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. The son of Gimmethegreenlight drops in class and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
DRIVELIKEAMASTER has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1475m. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Wayne. Marco van Rensburg rides and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
FULLY LOADED is better than his last start as he was reported to be coughing. He has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive
