Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Saturday 3rd October where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
RAZZPATH REBEL has only had two runs to date and showed plenty of toe when finishing third last time out over 1200m, one and a half-lengths behind the winner. He should build on that effort and looks to be the one to side with here.
LE CONCIERGE from the Justin Snaith yard has posted two solid runs in KZN and now has his first run in Gauteng. If he has travelled well, he should be right up there when they hit the line.
LUCKY AWESOME was hampered between the 400m and 150m mark when ending up in sixth place last time out over 1400m, 3.9L back from the winner, so he had his excuse.
Race 2
PENNYS CHOICE has finished closer to the winner in her last three starts, the latest when second over 1450m, 0.4L back from the victor. She was also reported to have a scalp wound on her left hind, so that effort was commendable.
POLLY PLUMMER stayed on well when finishing third in her last start over 1200m, 3.2L back from the winner and on that effort, she should appreciate the extra ground on offer here.
TU GIUSTO finished third on debut over 1400m, 2.6L adrift of the winner and was rested for ten weeks. She returns here and would have learnt from that first outing. If not needing the run, she should make her presence count.
Race 3
UTSAAH is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she delivered a strong finish to win her last start over 2400m by 1.6L.
She gets a handy draw two and renews her rivalry with EUPHRATES who finished fourth in the same 2400m race mentioned above, 3.5L off the former. He is now 3kgs better off at todays weights, so there should not be much separating the pair when the reach the winning post.
APACHE SON followed up his penultimate run victory over 2400m with a fourth place finish next time out over 2000m, 6.7L back from the winner and from gate six, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here.
Race 4
BEST CANDIDATE has won three of his last four starts and goes for a hat-trick after victories over 2000m, the latest by 1.5L. He drops in trip here, but he did finish second in his only attempt over this C&D, so this should not be an issue.
DOCTOR STRANGELOVE has only had four runs to date, but he too is in line for a hat-trick.
CORRUPT finished half a length behind BATTLEGROUND in his last run. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
ONE STATE has his hat-trick run after winning his maiden race over 1700m two runs back then following up with a victory over this C&D by 1.4L. The gelding went from jump to wire that day and from a wideish draw seven, he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.
HOT CHOICE is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over 1400m with a third place finish next time out over 1450m, 1.4L behind the winner. She has pulled gate five and with Muzi Yeni up, she should give the males a run for their money.
TROJAN HORSE built on his third place debut finish when winning at the second time of asking. He is a progressive type and must be strongly considered.
Race 6
This looks to be a tricky Joburg Spring Fillies and Mares Challenge with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. GET UP has won three of her last four starts and finished third in the other, so she clearly has some ability. Her recent win was impressive and she should be one of the leading contenders.
FLOWER ISLAND finished 3.4L behind the top pick last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
KISSHOTEN drops in trip after finishing second in her latest outing over 2000m, 1.2L back from the winner. She won over 1400m three runs back, so this should not be a problem.
Race 7
This looks to be another tricky Joburg Spring Challenge with plenty of runners in with a fair chance of ending up in the winner’s enclosure, so some caution is advised. The tentative top choice is TALK TO THE MASTER who returns from a 10-week rest and makes his stable debut for the Robbie Sage yard. He won his penultimate start on Hollywoodbets Durban July day and finished fifth next time out over this C&D, but he was reported to be not striding out.
TEXAS RED finished 2.75L behind I’M A FIREBALL last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights which should be enough to turn the tables.
MAIN DEFENDER finished third in a Grade 1 event last time and he merits healthy respect in this line-up.
Race 8
BISOU BISOU produced a good third place finish in his last start and it is encouraging that Craig Zackey has kept faith in the ride.
GALLIC VICTOR has posted two solid runs, the latest when third over a mile, just a half-length back from the winner. He showed plenty of speed that day and will be looking to secure his second career win here.
BRISTOL HERCULES finished close-up behind the winner before given a 10-week rest. It must be noted that the form of his last start has been franked and he should be one of the leading contenders.
Race 9
LITTLE BOY BLUE had his consistency rewarded with a 2L victory over 1200m. The gelding struck the front at the 300m and was eased down coming up to the line. On that effort, he could follow up here.
ELUSIVE RED won his penultimate start over 1200m and then chased hard all the way down to the wire to end up in third place last time over 1450m, 1.8L behind the winner.
HIGHWAYMANHARRY finished 0.1L behind the top pick last time. He goes over the same C&D and should be right there when they hit the line
