Race 1

HAUTE COUTURE is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Callan Murray booked to ride. He is related to three-time winner City Of Love. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

RUBY WHISPER was outrun late when second over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She is a consistent individual and should be the first raced runner past the post.

KWAITO is an unraced son of Elusive Fort from the Johan Janse van Vuuren yard with Keagan de Melo in the irons. If not too green in running, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

QUEVANO moved up well over this C&D last time before getting caught late by Best Candidate. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he can go one better.

THE REASON has finished second in her last three starts. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung inwards in the final 200m. She should give the males a run for their money.

NEBRASKA finished 2.55 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. With luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

Race 4

He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts on this course. He is the class horse in this contest and if fit, he should take a power of beating.

WILD INTENT produced an encouraging comeback run over 1400m at the Vaal. He would have come on from the outing and will love the rise to 1800m. He gets the blinkers fitted and will strip much fitter.

PRESSONREGARDLESS won a good race over 1600m on this course last time. He raced from a handy position and drew off in the closing stages. The son of Lancaster Bomber tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be competitive.

Race 5

GRISELDA challenged strongly in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery last time, but found one too good in the form of Good Day Sunshine. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Erik The Red is drawn on the outside of the track and should take a power of beating.

LOVE NOT WAR followed up her maiden win with a creditable third-place finish in the Grade 3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes. She was slow into stride and stayed on at the finish. If getting away on terms, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

FLOWER ISLAND was an easy winner on debut over 1000m at the Vaal. She returns from a 16-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, she can remain unbeaten.
