Race 1
MASTER CHRISTMAS did not go on with the effort over 1600m at Turffontein last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this C&D. On the form of his penultimate outing, he can return to winning ways.
VIBE SA is the stable companion of the top choice. He has been campaigning over shorter. The son of Just As Well finished second in his only attempt over this distance. He may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
FRERE JACQUES is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He was an easy winner of his penultimate outing over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. He is carded to race on 13 August 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
HANDSOME BADGER is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Callan Murray in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including September Flower and Bristol Hercules. If not in need of the experience, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
SEVENTH FLEET‘S last two starts have been creditable. The son of Danon Platina has experience on his side and should be the first raced runner past the post.
MIRUM finished 1.4 lengths behind the second selection on debut. The son of Horizon would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
TAKEACHANCEONME ran a fair race when fifth over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She was reported to be not striding out that day. The daughter of Rafeef has scope and in this field, she may be the one to side with.
KORCULA has finished third in her last five starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. The drop back to 1400m is no concern and she is back against her own sex. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BEAUTIFUL ONE did not go on with the effort over 1200m last time. She finished fourth over this distance at Turffontein, three runs ago. On the form of that outing, she may be hard to peg back.
Race 4
FUTURE RED is the top bet on the programme. She ran a creditable race when third in her local debut over 1400m at Turffontein. The daughter of Futura would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. She steps up to 1800m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back.
UNCLE BOB stayed on at the finish over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Duke Of Lorraine. The son of Heavenly Blue should enjoy the rise to 1800m. He is one of the leading contenders.
ECHO OF THE WILD finished 3.35 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
KING‘S EXPRESS ran a fair race over this distance at Turffontein last time. Three of his eight career victories have come on this course. 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Girish Samo-Burthia steps back into the saddle and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
TITANS OF WAR took his chances in the Grade 3 Durban Gold Vase last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The booking of Keagan de Melo is a big plus and on best form shown, he should pose a threat.
HAWKBILL is better than his last two starts. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts on this course. His last victory came under Craig Zackey. If putting his best foot forward, he should have a say.
Race 6
DIWALI ROCKET was not beaten far in his last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He finished 2.35 lengths behind BOUNDLESS LOVE in his penultimate outing. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. With a bit of luck in running, he may cause the surprise.
BOUNDLESS LOVE is better than his last start over this distance at Turffontein. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. On previous form, he should go close.
CULTURATI was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 2000m at Turffontein. He finished 3.25 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. .
Race 7
AFTER HOURS tried hard when second over this distance at Turffontein last time. The 9yo gelding takes a drop in class. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect. He is carded to race on 13 August 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
SNOW MOON stayed on when fifth over 1450m on the Classic course last time. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field, will be running on and should have a say.
REDLIGHTGREENLIGHT finished 0.9 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 8
VALIEVA was slow into stride over 1000m last time, but stayed on to finish fourth. She finished 1.35 lengths behind ONE TIGER in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. If getting away on terms, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
ONE TIGER stayed on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The son of One World is racing off a competitive rating and should go close. He is carded to race on 16 August 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
