Weather Forecast – Cape Town

Stormers:

At the end of the regular season the Stormers came in third with a record of 12 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats. Their tally of 60 log points was 3 shy of Leinster and 5 adrift of Glasgow Warriors who topped the standings.

After 16 rounds of matches it was the Stormers who were top of the log. Their last two games were overseas and a 38-38 draw with Ulster in Belfast followed by a 22-16 loss to Saturday’s opponents Cardiff in Wales saw the Stormers slip to third and if they win here hosting a potential semi final may no longer be guaranteed.

Prior to the draw at Uster and the loss at Cardiff the Stormers other tour matches came early in the season where they won at the Scarlets, Zebre, Benetton and Munster.

In the outright betting to lift the trophy the Stormers are now 11/2 third favourites with Sportingbet with Leinster topping the boards at even money and Glasgow are 11/4.

Cardiff:

Cardiff are the only Welsh side in the play offs and they finished in sixth place with 11 wins and 7 defeats.

Their Round 18 win over the Stormers moved them up to 55 log points and secured an extended stay in the tournament. Cardiff picked up 8 of their 11 wins this season in home games including a victory over the Lions (33-20) in Round 1. In South Africa in Rounds 13 14 they lost at the Bulls (40-7) and the Sharks (21-15).

In the outright betting to win the URC title Cardiff are trading at 100/1 with Sportingbet
