ULSTER v LEINSTER

Posted 18 May 08h30

Ulster are not 100% sure of qualification and they face a Leinster side that sits 1 point off the top going into this weekend, but also has the Champions Cup final looming next weekend.

In my opinion the side Leinster have selected is good enough to get the job done and keep them in the mix for a potential home final.

BET: 4 Units, Leinster win at 17/20 at WSB

OSPREYS v DRAGONS

Posted 18 May 08h25

This is not a game I am particularly excited about, although have enjoyed watching the Ospreys this season and Welsh derbies have become more entertaining over the last couple of years. Neither of these teams can make the playoffs and I am hoping they throw things around a bit and we get plenty of points.

BET: 3 Units, over 52.5 points at 0.87/1 at Betxchange

BLUES v HIGHLANDERS

Posted 17 May 16h00

The Blues are on an 8 match winning streak and I was impressed with them last week when they delivered the goods for me against the Hurricanes winning 31-27. The Highlanders are on a decent run of their own with 3 successive victories including that 32-29 win over the Crusaders at home last week. These sides met earlier in the season with the Blues winning 37-29 in Dunedin and although it is hard to look past a Blues victory here, I think the Highlanders can beat the handicap.

BET: 4 Units, Highlanders +18.5 at 10/11 at Pokerbet

FORCE v WARATAHS

Posted 17 May 15h38

The favouritism in this game has been flipping with Waratahs starting as narrow favourites at -1.5 but as I tap this out, it is now the Force -2.5. The Force are coming off a big home win over the Drua and they have won 3 in a row in front of their own fans, including wins over the Crusaders and Reds and I think the bookies are under-estimating them against the Waratahs side that has lost its last 3 in a row on the road, although does have a dominant recent record over the Force.

The points line is 54.5 and I will give that further consideration and will post these bets in the Forum, but for now a straight win bet on the home team.

BET: 4 Units, Force win at 8/10 at WSB

BRUMBIES v CRUSADERS

This handicap opened up Brumbies -3.5 and punters climbed in forcing it to the current line of -6.5 or 7.5 depending on where you play.

The Crusaders have had a terrible season and fluffed their lines again last week away to the Highlanders and they have yet to win on the road this season. I think the handicap is well set now and so is the points line of 52.5.

I am in the Brumbies camp although I am not convinced they will run away with it.

BET: 2 Units, Winning Margin Brumbies by 1-12 points inclusive at 6/4 at Sportingbet*

FIJIAN DRUA v REDS

Posted 17 May 12h51

I was well out of my handicap here which I had set at Drua +10.5. it was also interesting that The Admiral handicapped this game at -9.5 in our forum thread meaning there was a massive difference between the way we were seeing this game. In the end the bookies have come down pretty much in the middle with the Drua edging favouritism at this point. The Drua are certainly a better side at home, but they were well beaten by the Hurricanes and personally I think the bookmakers are giving them too much credit. I may have a look at the points line which is currently set at 50.5, but for now a straight Reds board bet for me.

BET: 4 Units, Reds win at 12/10 at Betxchange

ZEBRE v SCARLETS

Posted 17 May 09h40

This is one of the few games on the weekend which mean virtually nothing and almost all of us on last nights The Handicap show were keen to give this one a miss.

I am going to take the view that both teams will give the ball air and we get plenty of tries and rather than over 52.5 points I am going over 7.5 tries.

BET: 3 units over 7.5 tries at 17/20 at Pokerbet*

EDINBURGH V MUNSTER

Posted 17 May 09h35

I handicapped this game at -1.5 Edinburgh but the line seems to have settled at +4.5 on the home team. There was support for Munster in the live chat of The Handicap show last night and I certainly wouldn’t put you off them.

This is not a game I will be getting stuck into and I will back my original instincts and go with a board bet on the hosts.

The points line of 50.5 looks about right although I would lean unders.

BET: 2 units Edinburgh win at 83/50 at Betxchange

HURRICANES V MOANA PASIFIKA

Posted 17 May 00h04

The handicap opened -33.5 but has come in to -28.5 on the back of team news with the Hurricanes resting a few players.

I am undecided on the handicap and will focus on points where I am going to take a rare unders play.

The line is 63.5 and with some new team combinations for the Canes I can see a scrappy match.

BET: 3 units under 63.5 points at Betxchange

REBELS V CHIEFS

Posted 17 May 00h11

This handicap opened -15.5 and it has edged upwards to the current -18.5 line all week.

The Chiefs have named a strong side and I think those who have taken the early handicaps on the visitors are well placed.

I will have an interested in the Chiefs minus and will keep an eye on the weather as a possible unders play could be on the cards.

BET: 3 units Chiefs -18.5 at 9/10 at Betxchange
