Bristol hosts the fourth T20 international between England and India on Thursday and in terms of the series England now lead 2-0 with two to play
This is a 5 match series with the final contest taking place at Southampton on Saturday. After that we have 3 ODI’s to look forward to.
No result was possible in the series opener at Durham last week with India posting 189/7 in their 20 overs (Iyer 68, Abhishek Sharma 59, Dube 42 not out, Mahmood 3/33) and rain meant England didn’t get to bat.
In the second T20 at Old Trafford, Manchester on Saturday England came out on top by 4 wickets. India won the toss and opted to bat first and they posted 190/7. Abhishek Sharma made 43, Ishan Kishan 49 and Shreyas Iyer 37 whilst Sam Curran returned figures of 3/33. England openers Salt and Buttler both failed to score and lasted a combined total of 4 deliveries. Harry Brook made 39 as did Tom Banton and Jacob Bethell’s unbeaten 76 helped England home with an over to spare. Arshdeep Singh with 3/40 was the top Indian wicket taker.
The third T20 was staged at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Tuesday and England thrashed India by all of 125 runs. India won the toss and opted to bowl first and England posted 201/7 with Salt top scoring with 70, opening partner Buttler made 36 and Sam Curran was unbeaten on 41. England sored 49 runs in the powerplay and hit 7 maximums. India’s lasted just 11.4 overs as they were all out for 76 with no batsman making more than 13 runs. Archer (3/29) and Tongue (4/28) did most of the damage, Rashid also took 2 wickets and Jacks 1.

The Verdict
Having lost to Ireland before this series India find themselves in a bit of a rut and the best they can do now is win there last two matches and salvage a draw from the series.
That was surprisingly one sided at Nottingham and I’m looking for a more even, high scoring contest here for the following plays.
