CSK have won 6 and lost 7 and if they are to squeeze into the play offs they will need victory here and for other results before and after this game to go their way. They have lost their last 2 matches, away to LSG (by 5 wickets) and then at home to the Sunrisers (by 7 wickets).

The Sunrisers with 16 points and RCB with 18 points will both feature in the play offs and RCB’s healthy net rate puts them in good shape for a top2 finish. The Sunrisers 5 wicket win away to CSK clinched a play off spot with Ishan Kishan top scoring with 70 as they chased down 181 for victory.
RCB’s 23 run win away to Punjab King was their third successive victory and their ninth in total. Venkatesh Iyer made an unbeaten 73 in their bat first total of 222/4 which was too many for PK. They now renew rivalry with the Sunrisers and when they met in Bengaluru in the opening match of the tournament it was RCB who chased down SH’s 201/9 in just 15.4 overs for a 6 wicket victory.
