Two important games in the Betway Premiership title race take place on Tuesday when Amazulu host Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs clash with Stellenbosch

Amazulu v Sundowns

Amazulu are in fifth place with 30 points, 5 shy of Sundowns who have played one game fewer. They have been making progress in the Nedbank Cup in recent weeks with wins away to Polokwane and Richards Bay but their most recent league outing ended in a 2-0 home defeat to log leaders Orlando Pirates. Overall home form in the league is solid with 6 wins and 2 defeats and they now host a Sundowns side who beata them 2-0 in the first league meeting at the start of the season.

Downs will kick off in second spot with 35 points, 3 shy of Pirates who they beat 2-1 last Wednesday. Their goal difference is 1 inferior to Pirates and any sort of win here will see them regain top spot. Downs only league defeat this season came in KZN, at Golden Arrows on the 24th September and since then they have won 5 and drawn 2 of the subsequent 7 league games. Sundowns have also progressed in the cAf Champions League but at the weekend they were on the wrong end of a shock result when they exited the Nedbank Cup after a 2-0 defeat at TS Galaxy.

The Verdict:

Sundowns have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 1 of their Betway Premiership road trips so this is no forgone conclusion, especially after the Nedbank Cup defeat at Galaxy. However the chance to go top is a huge incentive and Downs get the vote to win by the minimum margin.

Bet: Winning margin, Sundowns by 1 goal exactly at 9/4 with Betway

Kaizer Chiefs v Stellenbosch

Chiefs have a derby date with Pirates coming up on Saturday and this is an opportunity to narrow the gap to their rivals. They will kick off in fourth place with 30 points, 2 behind Sekhukhune, 5 shy of Sundowns and 8 behind Prates, However Chiefs have played 3 games less than Sekhukhune, 1 less than Downs and 2 less than Pirates so they are still very much in the title race.

Chiefs are unbeaten in their last 9 league outings although 5 of those were drawn. Most recently they won at home to Arrows and away to Gallants (both 1-0). They didn’t make it to the CAF Confederations Cup and they are also out of the Nedbank Cup having lost 2-1 way to their opponents here at the start of this month.

Stellenbosch couldn’t build on their Nedbank Cup win over Chiefs as they went down 1-0 away to Arrows at the weekend. With Gavin Hunt now in charge the immediate priority is to improve their league position, currently fourth from bottom and just 4 points better off than Magesi who are bottom of the log. From 7 Betway Premiership road trips Stellies have recorded 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats.

The Verdict:

Chiefs won the first league meeting this season 2-0 but they lost a Carling Knockout tie to this opposition on spot kicks before that recent Nedbank Cup defeat. This will be the fourth meeting this season but now Chiefs have home advantage and they might just edge this one.

Bet: Winning margin, Chiefs by 1 goal exactly at 24/10 with Betway
