The first action in the third round of English Premier League matches comes from Portman Road on Friday night where Ipswich take on Liverpool
Ipswich
Ipswich were 2-1 winners at home to Sunderland in their only home game so far which came on the opening weekend. Jack Clarke got the winner in the 90th minute of that match to give Ipswich a perfect start to life back in the top flight. In their second outing a trip to Old Trafford saw them go down 5-2. Despite taking the lead through Lief Davis it was all square at the break and Ipswich conceded 4 goals from the 56th minute onwards.
Ipswich completed their transfer business by bringing in Zain Fleming from Burnley, their net spend of £155m is a record for a newly promoted club.
Liverpool
Liverpool have played out a pair of 2-2 draws in their opening games. They came from behind twice (Isak and Munoz) to finish all square with Notts Forest at Anfield last weekend and in their first outing of the season Gakpo scored the first equalizer and a 99th minute penalty from Szoboszlai saw them come away from Newcastle with a point.
Liverpool’s last bit of transfer business saw Bradley Barcola complete his move from PSG for a reported £123m.
The Betting
Ipswich are trading at 44/10 with the draw at 32/10 and Liverpool can be backed at around 11/20
A game of 3 goals or more is 9/20 and it’s 11/20 for both teams to score.
Verdict:
I’m looking to the corners markets for a bet. Liverpool were awarded 6 at Newcastle and have since brought Munoz into the side and signed Barcola. I also feel Ipswich can contribute in this department too and over 10.5 in total is my play.
