MARKETA has good recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that Viva La Vida has come out and won again since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
WHATASTAR moved up well over this trip last time before getting outrun late. She returns from an 11-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. With a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.
Race 2
ELUSIVE WINTER showed his customary speed over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time and held on where it matters most. Two of his three career victories have come over this distance. 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies retains the ride, and he can follow up with another victory.
ROMAN AGENT finished 5.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
FLYING FINLEY finished 4.25 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 3
AMEN CORNER should have finished closer to the winner over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She won on debut over this C&D. The daughter of The United States returns from a 19-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she may be the one to side with.
INSIDE VOICE is a progressive type and won her maiden over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
AMERICAN ULTRA ran on powerfully when winning her maiden over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She returns from a 16-week break. Andrew Fortune is booked to ride, and she cannot be discounted.
Race 4
ABSOLUTELY YES won a good race in the Grade 3 Langerman last time. He set the pace and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. The son of Danon Platina returns from a well-deserved 11-week break. He is likely to race on the speed once again and can bring up the hat-trick.
ROLAND GARROS finished 7.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He won his previous two efforts. If putting his best foot forward, he may be the horse to complete the exacta.
CAPTAIN WEST won a good race over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Winter course last time. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of One World should be the first older horse past the post.
Race 5
KING‘S QUEST found one too good in the form of Afrique last time. The son of Querari has finished third three times from as many starts on this course. He jumps from pole position and despite his big mass of 64kgs, he may be the horse to beat.
BETTER MAN found extra to win his last start over 1600m on the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Winter course. The son of One World takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
TWILIGHT WARRIOR ran on powerfully when winning his maiden over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Ideal World is a progressive type. If all went well with his travels back to the Western Cape, he should give a good account of himself.
Race 6
HEAR MY VOICE was running on when second over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. The removal of the tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
EASY LIVING finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
DU MAURIER is better than her last start as she was reported to have a nasal discharge. The daughter of Captain Of All has plenty of scope and if putting her best foot forward, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 7
LOWVELD LILY ran a fair race when fourth in the Listed Irridescence Stakes last time. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she had to be switched for running room at the 300m mark. The daughter of Legislate won her maiden over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. With a bit of luck in running, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
BONNE BOUCHE kept finding to win her last start over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She would have come on from the run and merits healthy respect.
WHY NOT JACKIE ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Her record on this course is an obvious concern but she is in a good space, and cannot be discounted.
Race 8
IN A TIMELY MANNER found the 1000m of her last start on the short side. He jumped outwards and was outpaced. The son of Legislate would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He will love the rise to 1250m and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be a big runner.
BLACK EAGLE was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He showed good speed and won with a ton in hand. The son of Rafeef takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
LATE DECEMBER followed up his maiden win with an impressive victory over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in his last outing has come out and won since. He is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick
