RACE 1
ALAKAZAM ran a creditable race in her local debut over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, raced from a handy position and stayed on to finish second. She will strip much fitter and with luck from her awkward draw of nine, she can go one better.
LADY LIMONCELLO set the pace over 1600m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Disruptive. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The cheekpieces are fitted and she is one of the leading contenders.
JAZZ AWAY was caught late when second over 1300m on this course last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. She should get a good run in transit from barrier two and merits obvious consideration.
RACE 2
MONKEY’S WEDDING’S last two starts on the turf were fair. His effort when fourth on this course, three runs ago was encouraging. The son of Hawwaam may be at his best on this surface. The blinkers should keep his mind on the task at hand, and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
WORLD SOPRANO finished 0.25 lengths behind GIMMETHEGOLD last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
GIMMETHEGOLD ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip much fitter and cannot be discounted.
RACE 3
SATELLITE WORLD ran a good race when second over 2000m on the turf last time. The son of Ideal World tries the polytrack for the first time. He carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and may be the one to side with in this field.
STRAIGHT RED finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
MISSOURI FLAME is the stable companion of the top selection. She finished second, a head behind the winner in her penultimate outing over this C&D. On the form of that effort, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 4
ZINOVI showed a good turn of foot when winning his last start over this trip. He has won four times and finished third once from seven starts over this distance. The son of Heavenly Blue is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating.
FIREALLEY was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 2000m on this course. He finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
NELSON BAY produced a good comeback run when third over 1400m on the turf. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. He finished second in his penultimate outing on this course and can feature.
RACE 5
KLEINZEE got up where it matters most to win her local debut over 1600m on this course. She was reported to be cut into that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight received a four-pound penalty for the win. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and she can follow up.
DESERT CLOUD found one too good in the form of Hat Montera last time. She is a consistent individual and from her good draw of four, she should pose a threat.
RHYDIAN returns from a 13-week break and is having his first run for Dean Smith. The son of Rafeef has dropped in the ratings and if taking to the polytrack, he would not be a surprise winner.
Race 6
ENDEARED over raced in the early stages of her last start, but stayed on at the finish. She caught the eye when fourth in her penultimate run over 1300m on this track. The daughter of Horizon should be ideally suited to this distance and from her good draw of two, she can notch up her second-career victory.
MIDNIGHT MUSIC won a good race over 1200m on this course last time. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She does have an awkward draw to contend with, but Wayne Agrella knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
AMANATTO finished 2.6 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
RACE 7
FAIRY KNIGHT was slow into stride in the Listed East Cape Sprint Cup last time and stayed on to finish third. He has won four times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Global View should get an ideal run in transit from pole position, and can return to winning ways.
CRUISE CONTROL held on where it matters most to win his last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview Flying Five. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. He is likely to race on the speed and merits healthy respect.
MERCANTOUR finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result. The son of Var is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.
RACE 8
COASTAL PATH was doing his best work late when sixth over 1400m on the turf last time. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class and is ideally suited to this distance. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle, and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
ALWAYS SHINING was an easy winner of his last start over 1300m on this course. He received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar line-up and merits healthy respect.
RAVILIOUS finished 6.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result
