Winning Form selections for @Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 2nd May where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter Punters Challenge
Race 1
MOSAIC WORLD caught the eye when fourth on debut over 1000m on the turf. She was squeezed leaving the start, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of One World would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. If taking to the polytrack, she may be the one to beat.
RED HOT MISS finished 1.6 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should pose a threat.
TAX FREE showed good improvement when second over 1200m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Horizon is a progressive type and if all went well with her travels, she may have more to come.
Race 2
BANK STREET’S last three starts have been fair. He was doing his best work at the finish when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. The son of Global View drops in the ratings and takes a drop in class. Serino Moodley steps back into the saddle and the combination will be mowing down the frontrunners.
GORGEOUS DUDE has finished second in his last two starts over this C&D. He would have come on from his last outing and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KIMBALL O’HARA tried hard when second over this distance on the turf last time, but found one too good in the form of Meerkat Moon. He is having his first run for Trainer Wendy Whitehead. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
KUDIKARAN hails from the visiting Mano Pandaram stable. He had excuses when fourth in the Grade 2 TAB S A Nursery last time. His debut effort when 3.2 lengths behind Turn It Up was encouraging. The son of The United States takes on weaker opposition this afternoon and if not too green around the turn, he can shed his maiden tag.
LIGHTINTHEWOODS showed speed on debut, but found one too good in the form of Catfish. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
RED HOT GUY took time to find his feet on debut, but finished off his race well. The son of Fire Away would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
Race 4
PRINCESS TRIPPI should have finished closer over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Red Taffety has come out and won again since. She was running on nicely when third in her penultimate outing over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Andrew Fortune is booked to ride and from a good draw of four, she should give the males a run for their money.
KAZ FROM ALCATRAZ set the pace over 1400m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Green Energy. Muzi Yeni is likely to adopt the same tactics from the widest draw, and he may be hard to peg back.
GOOD OMEN has consistent form to his name. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw, and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
QUESTIONING is one of the best bets on the card. He was an impressive winner over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won a Grade 2 since. The son of Querari has won four times from six starts over this distance. He is drawn in pole position, Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination should take a power of beating.
LEGAL COUNSEL finished 1.55 lengths behind JET FORCE last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt on this course, and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
GLADATORIAN returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. The 6yo gelding won this race last year and will be looking to defend his title.
Race 6
WISH LIST is the top bet on the programme. She won the Grade 1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby easier than the official margin suggests. The daughter of Legislate was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes in her penultimate outing. The daughter of Legislate is loaded with class and with Andrew Fortune back in the saddle, she can notch up the hat-trick.
QUICKSTEPGAL finished 2.8 lengths behind KEUKENHOF last time. She is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Vercingetorix won the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas, and merits healthy respect.
PRINCESS OF GAUL was given a perfect ride when winning the Grade 3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap last time. She is the stable elect with Craig Zackey in the saddle, and can finish in the placings.
Race 7
TIN PAN ALLEY was ultra-impressive when winning the Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift H F Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time. The son of The United States showed a good turn of foot and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. He should get an ideal run in transit and should be the one to beat.
HAPPY VERSE was a tad disappointing in the Grade 1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby last time. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. With luck in running, he should be competitive.
ONE EYE ON VEGAS made up ground when second in the Grade 2 TAB Hawaii Stakes last time. He finished fourth in the Grade 2 TAB Gauteng Guineas, three runs ago. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should be involved.
Race 8
LADYOFDISTINCTION finished 2.15 lengths behind RAHHABBA last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Vercingetorix has won four times and finished second once from as many starts on this course. She is having her peak run today and from a good draw of four, she can return to winning ways.
BAKWENA is better than her last start over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course. She won her only attempt over this distance. On the form of her penultimate outing, she should pose a threat.
GERBERA was outrun late when second over 1700m at the Vaal last time. The cheekpieces seem to have done the trick. Craig Zackey knows her well, and the combination cannot be discounted.
Race 9
O’TENIKWA showed speed in the Grade 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Questioning who has come out and won again since. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. Serino Moodley is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw, and he may be hard to peg back.
TAXI TO THE MOON ran a cracker when second in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint last time. Four of his six career victories have come over this distance. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
I AM GIANT finished 1.55 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. This outing will bring him on for future races.
Race 10
The WSB Dash is exciting to watch, but finding the winner has not been easy in recent years. LUHAMBA PHAMBILI is the class horse in this race. He is better than his last start in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint at Turffontein. He has shown gate speed in previous races which will assist. If all goes according to plan, he should be too good for this field.
DONQUERARI should have finished closer to the winner last time. He is yet to place in this contest from three starts, but that could change this year.
ESQUEVELLE hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. The 7yo gelding is an eight-time winner who has not lost his zest for racing. He is a horse that always gives of his best and would not be a a surprise winner
