Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Saturday 16th May where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
PERFECT SKY produced a decent debut effort over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She should have finished closer to the winner as she hung inwards in the final 200m. The daughter of Vercingetorix returns from a 15-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
IMPRESSIVE stayed on when second over 1400m on this course last time. The daughter of Erik The Red is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
FEAST OF BERRIES is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Callan Murray in the saddle. She is well bred and if not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
Race 2
GONE COLD is the top bet on the programme. He was slow into stride over this C&D last time, but stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that Turn It Up has come out and won again since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight looks to have ability and should take a power of beating with Gavin Lerena in the saddle.
STORMACT is a progressive type and finished second over this C&D last time. He is drawn on the outside of the track and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
LUCKY AWESOME is an unraced son of One World from the Sean Tarry stable and Mickaelle Michel is booked to ride. He is related to multiple winners including Cape Lights and Chocolate Soldier. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.
Race 3
This is a weak Maiden Plate and the unraced entrant may produce a winning debut. DOCTOR STRANGELOVE is a son of Master Of My Fate from the Alec Laird stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. He does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
ROCK MY BOAT stayed on when second over this distance on the Inside course last time. The son of Futura is in a good space and may be the first raced runner past the post.
EMERALD COUNTESS’ last start is best ignored as she was reported to be lame. Her effort when second under Denis Schwarz, four runs ago was encouraging. On the form of that outing, she would not be a shock winner.
Race 4
CELTIC MANOR is one of the better bets on the card. She produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on this course. She took the lead at the 200m mark before getting caught late by Top Secret. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and is bred to love the rise to 1600m. She jumps from pole position and with the natural improvement expected, she is the horse to beat.
BE MY FATE tried hard when second over 1800m at the Vaal last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
GIMMESUMLUV finished 1.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 5
BUSTER BARNES stayed on when sixth in the Listed TAB Dr Richard Maponya Handicap last time. He returns from a 16-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. If not in need of the run, he can notch up his first victory in South Africa.
TINTIN ran a fair race in the Non-Black Type Race Coast Sales Big Cap last time. He won his previous three efforts. The son of Rafeef jumps from a good draw of three and with his handy galloping mass of 54kgs, he should pose a threat.
KING’S EXPRESS kept finding to win his last start over this distance on the Inside course. The 6yo gelding is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
Race 6
REPETITION ran a fair race over 1800m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D, under Trent Mayhew. The son of Twice Over should get a good run in transit from barrier four and may be the one to beat.
ARUMUGAM finished 0.05 lengths behind TERRENCE last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
TERRENCE followed up his maiden victory with a creditable fourth-place finish over 1800m on this course. Diego De Gouveia is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
ONE MORE STAR tired late when fourth over 2400m at the Vaal last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. The son of One World runs well for Callan Murray and he can return to winning ways.
ARIOVISTUS was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FUTURE GAMBLE followed up her maiden win with another good victory over this C&D. She showed a good turn of foot and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Futura takes on stronger, but she is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 8
MOVER AND SHAKER was far from disgraced when sixth in the Grade 1 TAB Computaform Sprint last time. He showed good pace before lacking extra late. Apprentice Mxolisi Mbuto takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he knows him well. The 6yo gelding may be hard to peg back.
ZIYASHA stayed on when sixth in the Grade 2 TAB Senor Santa Stakes last time. He finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 5.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.
DESTINY OF FIRE stumbled leaving the start in the Grade 2 TAB Camellia Stakes last time and stayed on to finish fifth. She carries a light mass of 50kgs and if getting away on terms, she should be a big runner.
Race 9
UMZINGELI WENYATHI showed speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time, but found one too good in the form of Miss World. He was reported to be cut into on his left hind that day. Apprentice Blaine Marx-Jacobson takes the 2.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause. He is in a good space and may be the one to beat.
TWENTYTWENTYVISION stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The son of Royal Mo is one of the leading contenders.
HIS LORDSHIP finished 0.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish
