Race 1
FIERCENESS was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of Hawwaam would have gained from the experience and should enjoy the rise to 1160m. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure once again.
GIMME SOME LUCK won a good race in the Non-Black Type 4Racing SA Sales Cup last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Blaine Marx-Jacobson steps back into the saddle and he merits healthy respect.
CATFISH was an easy winner of his last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He finished 5.8 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is carded to race on 25 June 2026 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 2
PERFECT SKY followed up her maiden victory with a creditable fourth-place finish in the Listed Amusnet Devon Air Stakes. She will love the drop back to 1160m. The daughter of Vercingetorix meets the right field and should take a power of beating.
STAGGERWING won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ELUSIVE DRAGON has fair form to her name. She finished second over this C&D in her penultimate outing. Philasande Mxoli knows her well and she can finish in the placings.
Race 3
MEGHAN’S DIAMOND returns from a 16-week break and is having her first outing for the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable. She brings some decent Western Cape form lines with her. If putting her best foot forward, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
RENDEVOUS IN RIO produced a good comeback run over 1200m at the Vaal. She finished second in her only C&D attempt. The daughter of Trippi will strip much fitter and she is one of the leading contenders.
FALLODON showed good improvement when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and may have more to come.
Race 4
GIVE ME A CHANCE showed good improvement when third over 1000m on this course last time. That was his first outing for the Paul Matchett stable. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1160m. He jumps from an outside draw and can shed his maiden tag.
BERRY LANCER finished 0.6 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
HIGHWAYMAN HARRY has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He showed speed over 1200m at the Vaal last time before getting outrun late by Sands Of Valhalla. Mickaelle Michel takes the 1.5kgs off his back which will assist his cause.
Race 5
BELLEROPHON finished 0.5 lengths behind HOTARUBI last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He was victorious under Serino Moodley in his penultimate outing. The son of Vercingetorix can notch up his fourth-career victory.
HOTARUBI won a good race over this C&D last time. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
CORRUPT finished 4.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.
Race 6
TROMBOLINES was in need of his comeback run over 1160m on this course. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The son of Querari won his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and with luck in running, he can show good improvement.
WINSTON’S WONDER is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type TAB Egoli Mile. He would have come on from the run and should strip fitter. On his previous form, he should be competitive.
QUEVANO followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1450m on the Inside course. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
PRECOCIOUS has top consistent form to her credit. She returns from a well-deserved 13-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Ideal World is unbeaten from two starts on this course. If not in need of the outing, she may be the one to beat.
VALENTINA BALDUCCI returns from a 24-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle won her only attempt over this C&D. She is a filly with class and should give a good account of herself.
JUST THE TWO OF US was a tad disappointing over 1000m on the Inside course last time. Two of her five career victories have come on this course. She is drawn on the outside of the track and would not be a shock winner.
Race 8
DADS DREAM is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Highveld Winter Juvenile Stakes. He won a good race over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course in his penultimate run, against older rivals. It is encouraging that Kyle Strydom steps back into the saddle. The son of New Predator has ability and may be the one to beat.
COLD SHINE is a winner of his last two starts on the Highveld. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming Apprentice Jacey Botes which will assist his cause. He is in a good space and can bring up the hat-trick.
MAVERICK QUEEN has fair consistent form to her name. She would have come on from her last outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Captain Of All can give the males a run for their money.
Race 9
POINTER stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She has won twice and finished second twice from seven starts over this C&D. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. She takes a drop in class and can notch up her third-career victory.
MALSHANA MOU set the pace over 1450m on the Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Winds Of Grace. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. She is drawn on the outside and may be hard to peg back.
SHE’S ALL MINE found extra to win her last start over 1200m at the Vaal. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and merits obvious consideration
