Winning Form selections for racing from Turffontein on Saturday 8th August where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Her debut effort when second over this C&D catches the eye. The daughter of Fire Away has scope and may be the one to beat in this line-up.
SURREAL SONG ran a good race when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She is back on the Highveld and if confirming her recent improvement, she can go close.
MEGHAN’S DIAMOND was a beaten favourite over 1300m at the Vaal last time. She finished second on this course in her penultimate run. She is drawn on the outside and would not be a shock winner.
Race 2
SHINING SUN stayed on when third over 1160m on this course last time. The son of Danon Platina should love the rise to 1400m. He is a progressive type and from his good draw of two, he may be the one to side with.
SEVENTH FLEET ran a good race when second over 1450m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FROM THE GET GO returns from a 16-week break and is having his first outing on the Highveld. The booking of Callan Murray is encouraging and there may be improvement to come from him.
Race 3
HOT CHOICE is the top bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort when second over 1160m on this course, against male company. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Futura would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to beat.
DESTINY’S DREAM was far from disgraced when facing winners over this C&D last time. She is back in Maiden Company and is one of the leading contenders.
FUTURE RED returns from a 16-week break and is having her first outing for the Tony Peter stable. The daughter of Futura has plenty of scope and if settled into her new surroundings, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
THE EQUATOR is one of the better bets on the card. He found extra to hold off HAWKBILL when victorious over this C&D last time. The son of Galileo is in a good space and against similar company, he can follow up.
KING’S EXPRESS finished 1.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around. He is likely to race on the pace and may be hard to peg back.
PALACE PRINCE fought hard for his last victory over 1600m on the Inside course. The tongue-tie did the trick on the son of Potala Palace. He carries a light mass of 50kgs and can finish in the placings.
Race 5
KUDIKARAN was not disgraced when third in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time. He returns from an 11- week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of The United States looks to have some class about him and if fit, he may be the one to beat.
MAX THE MAGICIAN found one too good in the form of Pumpkin Pie last time. With a bit of luck in running, he may be rewarded for consistency.
ESPINOZA finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 6
SECRET LIFE finished 1.4 lengths behind CONCORDIA last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. The daughter of Act Of War tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back.
CONCORDIA showed a good turn of foot when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
PRETTY ANALIA is better than her last start on the Vaal Classic course. Three of her five career victories have come over this distance. She has cracked a good draw of three and if putting her best foot forward, she should have a say.
Race 7
TROMBOLINES justified favouritism when winning his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Querari is ideally drawn in Barrier Two and if keeping on a straight line, he can follow up with another victory.
ARIOVISTUS found extra to win his last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
MASTER CHRISTMAS stayed on when second over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that Kensal Green has come out and won again since. He is having his peak run and with luck from the widest draw, he should be competitive.
Race 8
INTO DANCING is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 2000m on the Inside course. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this distance. The daughter of Ideal World may still be ahead of the handicapper and she can bring up the hat-trick.
MERRYWEATHER finished 1.1 lengths behind AMERICAN BEAUTY last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
AMERICAN BEAUTY kept finding to win her last start over 1400m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is likely to race on the pace from Barrier Two and may be hard to peg back.
Race 9
BAY EMPIRE found extra to win his last start over 1600m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He meets the right field and can follow up with another win.
MICHAEL FARADAY’S last two starts have been fair. He finished 3.45 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
ZIP CODE is better than his last start over 1700m at the Vaal. He continues to drop in the ratings and is drawn in pole position. Chad Little may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
